So each year we hold our Best in Purbeck Awards – celebrating all things local. This allows members of the public and our holiday guests to say exactly what they love and to reward the hard work of our local friends.  Run through social media, locals and visitors alike, have been busy liking and loving the nominated companies and local organisations that consistently deliver high standards.

This year we have been even more overwhelmed by your response, with hundreds of votes cast in 5 categories.  Our Awards celebrate good local food, excellent service, places to eat and visit and finally those who are best at writing all about it in our new Best Blogger category.

The counters have now been reset for 2017 on the Best In Purbeck Facebook Page, so we are pleased to announce the winners below:

Perhaps the biggest category in the Best In Purbeck Awards, best eatery is keenly fought over but has, for the second year in a row been won by:

Worth Matravers Tea Rooms.

The tea rooms in Worth has again won the popular vote, confirming its place as THE local place to eat.  We have sampled some of their delicious fayre and its well worth a visit![/styled_box]

Best Purbeck Event

Purbeck is host to a huge array of fabulous events, often run by volunteers for the benefit of visitors and locals.  Events run whatever the weather, in all seasons and represent the community spirit that prevails in the towns and villages on the Isle of Purbeck

For the second year running the winner is:

Swanage Carnival

Best In Purbeck - Local Does It Best! Dorset Holiday CottagesThis hugely popular event is fantastic.  Although we are not allowed to vote, I did spend two glorious hours in the lovely sunshine, on Swanage sea front enjoying this not to be missed extravaganza.  The Carnival encapsulates what it is to love Purbeck, from the local musicians to the local brownies, all make a huge effort to put on a fabulous show.  The fun doesn’t stop there, with a week long event that raises thousands for charity![/styled_box]

Best Local Attraction
Perhaps the most important category for our guests, rewarding the best local attraction.  The list of nominations was long but in the end it was our closest National Trust treasure, which won the day:

Corfe Castle

best local attraction in purbeckThe ruins of Corfe Castle, are the emblem of Purbeck.  The famous royal ruins stand watch over the Isle and the most pretty historic village.  Run by the National Trust, the ruins are open to all and also play host to some magical reenactment days.[/styled_box]

As this is our first blog of the year it seems only fitting that we thank all our owners and clients from this past year, our bookings were up a fantastic 40% (2015-2016) and we made holidays possible for over 1300 families.
