Reach the Highest Point

On the South West Coast Path

No visit to Dorset is complete without a walk along our portion of the iconic South West Coast Path, and in West Dorset, you’ll find the highest point on the trail. Golden Cap, found just outside of Chideock, offers panoramic views of the coastline. You can choose to hike up to Golden Cap from either side of the hill, or if you want an easier walk, there’s a car park at the top which can be accessed from the main road. After a day of exploration, and before you retire to your cosy West Dorset cottage, we recommend unwinding in the picturesque West Bay. Have an ice cream as you stroll along the seafront, and relax to the soothing sounds of the sea.

The Day in Lyme Regis

Lyme Regis, a quaint coastal village in West Dorset, was made famous in “The French Lieutenant’s Woman” by John Fowles, and it’s well worth a visit. Explore the charming streets lined with historic buildings and quaint shops, or venture to the shores in search of fossils as Lyme Regis is renowned as a top spot for fossil hunting. There are a handful of museums in Lyme Regis displaying some of the mighty finds from across the years, and the village also offers a few lovely pubs and cafes. If you’re looking for a place to stay nearby, a holiday cottage in Bridport or surrounding areas of West Dorset will give you easy access to this fantastic coastal spot.
