Corfe Castle

The castle is visited by over 100,000 visitors a year who come to marvel at over 1000 years of history.  The castle, which is one of the earliest castles to be built using stone in England, has housed many royals, witnessed civil war, and in AD978, was the site of a royal murder when Edward The Martyr met his fate.

The Castle ruins are managed by the National Trust.  For visitor times and ticket pricing please visit the National Trust website.  Substantial parking can be found at either West St or the National Trust car park at the foot of the castle. In the summer spaces fill up quickly, so we recommend arriving early to secure a spot. Or, to ditch the hassle altogether, you could choose accommodation in Corfe Castle which leaves the castle just a short walk away.

The village of Corfe Castle
An Idyllic

Village Retreat in Dorset

Corfe Castle is a pretty stone village at the foot of Corfe Castle ruins, which is now managed by the National Trust.  The village is one of Dorset’s most popular holiday destinations with breath-taking walks, old inns, tea rooms, a museum and a model village.  The village and castle are located between Wareham and Swanage, about 5 miles from the coast. A ride on the traditional Swanage steam railway will take you into the heart of the seaside town, or if you’re looking for more modern ways to travel, the village is well connected by bus.

Choosing a Corfe Castle holiday cottage will land you in the heart of one of Dorset’s loveliest locations. From country to coast, guests to the village can explore the surrounding area rather easily from this central location. Nearly all periods of history are celebrated in and around Corfe Castle Village, from the Jurassic periods when dinosaurs roamed the Isle of Purbeck, right up to the modern day. There’s lots to see, and even more to do. If you want to know more, please visit our Corfe Castle information page.
