Windjammer Access Statement


Windjammer Cottage is set  just off the main high street of beautiful Swanage, a stones from the  sea and blue flag beach. It provides short distance , level walking access to a wide variety of shops  high street names and bespoke shops.


The cottage comprises an open plan ground floor area with a first floor providing 2 bedrooms and bathroom/wc.



•We are listed on www.dhcottages.co.uk under Windjammer.

  • Bookings / enquiries can be made via email, fax, and telephone.
  • The nearest bus stop is at the bottom of the road.
  • The nearest train station is Swanage 0.4 miles . (recently added to the rail network 2017 , only running a limited timetable so please do check) . After that Wareham and is 10 miles away.
  • There are accessible taxis or a number of buses available.
  • Wheelchairs and other aides and equipment, can be hired by arrangement.
  • Tesco direct can arrange for shopping to be delivered.


Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

  • Luggage can be unloaded at the front common entrance door. There are however, parking restrictions.
  • There is on street parking in adjoining streets, it is not possible to park outside the front of the property.
  • There is a pay and display car park a short walk away at the end of the high street.





•The entrance door is level with the pavement and has a single inward opening door. There is a small threshold.

•Rectangular table seats 6 (moveable side to side)

  • 1 bench seat for 2 people – 4  moveable chairs with which have no arms.
  • Flooring is vinyl.


Living area

  • Furniture is moveable and there are plenty of non feather cushions provided. There is a three seater settee and two armchairs.
  • TV with integrated DVD player.
  • Flooring is vinyl.


•Standard work height units.

  • Oven( electric) door is drop down.

.Hob (Gas)

  • Flooring is vinyl.
  • Good contrast between floor, cupboards and other surfaces.
  • Fridge with small freezer is located in the under- stairs cupboard accessed by full size door.

. DAB radio.

. Slow cooker

. Good selection of pots , pans etc.

. Washing up liquid , tea towel etc for clearing up, are    provided.

•There is a standard size washing machine, which is front loading, provided in a small under- stairs cupboard.

.Iron and ironing board located under stairs.

.Laundry airer (foldable) located in double  bedroom by wardrobe.




  • Non Feather duvets and pillows provided in each room.
  • Sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases are all provided.
  • Accessed via a flight of carpeted stairs with a 90 degree turn at the bottom and top, (hand rails on both sides of stairs)



  • Double room: Kingsize bed 5ft wide with space each side.
  • Wardrobe and ample drawers.
  • Carpet flooring.


  • Twin room: 2 x 3ft single beds (can be zip and linked make Queen size bed 6ft , (On special request).

.1 x slightly smaller single guest bed with  deep mattress, free standing , standard height . (On special request , for children up to age of 12).

. Wifi box

  • Carpet flooring.


Bathroom / WC

  • Room comprises toilet and wash hand basin.
  • Rectangular bath with shower mixer tap. Step access required over bath edge. None slip mat provided.
  • There are no support handrails.
  • Vinyl tiled flooring.
  • Good colour contrast between floor and walls.

.Electric Shaver point.

. 1 Small hand towel  and Bath mat provide.


. Very good range of shops including Super Markets Restaurants , Public Houses, Gifts, News Agents etc . All a level walking distance away.
