Yes over half of our cottages allow dogs and around 20 take two or more dogs. We inspect all our dog friendly cottages and will advise you in each property listing as to whether the garden is secure and for what size dog. We also ask our owners to supply you with a stairgate to help keep dogs off the beds. In addition we can tell you exactly where the nearest footpath is located and we handpick those cottages that are near extensive walks that are suitable for dogs. Yes, lots of the beaches in Dorset are dog friendly. However, some restrict dog walking in the summer months. Some, like Weymouth beach restrict the hours you can access the beach with your pet and some like Swanage close all together from May – Oct. But most beaches offer some sort of access all year round and we can tell you the nearest beach to your cottage and the dog access opening times.
Extra charges vary from cottage to cottage. Lots of our cottages don’t make any charges for your dog and many welcome the first dog free of charge. Any extra charges for your pet are noted in the facilities section of each property listing and at checkout so you are fully informed.
Yes we have a few simple rules to make everyone’s stay more enjoyable. Firstly we ask that prior to your stay that your dog is treated for fleas. Secondly we ask that the gardens are cleared of mess and thirdly we ask that dogs are kept off furniture and out of bedrooms.
This does vary from cottage to cottage. We carefully align the number of pets allowed with the size of the cottage and the local amenities.
