Introduction & General Information

Old Butchers Cottage, a pet friendly holiday home, is a grade 2 listed end of terrace two storey cottage built around 1800 with a parking space for one large car, or two small cars at the side of the property. It has two entrances, the front entrance is directly from the street with a single step up to the front door, and a French patio door rear entrance is accessed via a side gate from the side of the property where the car parking is located. There is a small step down from the rear patio door to the lounge. The downstairs is open plan with a small step down from the kitchen area to the lounge.  A staircase leads to the first floor, which as most cottages built around the same era is built into the eaves.

Property Threshold

Entrance Doors:

  • Front door is 99cm wide
  • Side gate is 92cm wide
  • Back patio door is 112cm wide



  • Front Door: At the front door there is single step of 25cm high to enter the building. Once inside there is a similar sized step up to the ground floor.
  • Rear Door: There is a rear entrance to the building via a gate (92cm wide), through rear French style patio doors. There is a step down of 17cm to the ground floor.
  • Garden: 5 large steps up to the garden, which is laid to lawn.


Ground Floor

The ground floor is open plan. The front door opens onto a large kitchen, which leads to a lounge / diner. There is a small step from the kitchen to the lounge / diner area of 10cm.


Room Dimensions

  • Lounge measures 5m x 6m
  • Kitchen measures 5m x 3.5m. Worktops are of standard size. Oven is underneath the hob and both are electric.
  • Bathroom measures 130cm x 250cm, and has a shower cubicle 90cm D shaped with raised shower tray. Door measures 82cm wide
  • A small hallway of 80cm in width leads to the staircase
  • The staircase to the first floor is mainly straight with a small spiral at the top. There are 12 steps to first floor.


First Floor:

The first floor is built into the eaves. However, ceilings are still of good height with sufficient headroom even for taller people.

  • Upstairs there are three double bedrooms of good size
  • The bathroom has a shower over bath, and is on the smaller size.
  • Door dimensions: All doors are 73cm wide except the back bedroom which is 70cm high
