The Stone Barn, Kimmeridge. 50.619015, -2.119761 (Directions)

A unique and private self-catering holiday cottage set in the magical surroundings of Kimmeridge village. Surrounded by idyllic coastal farmland with panoramic sea views. The Stone Barn is set apart from the hustle and bustle of busy roads and street lights, yet the nearby towns of Wareham and Swanage are only a short drive away.  Other Jurassic Coast marvels, such as Lulworth Cove are all within easy reach.

The Stone Barn is the setting for a truly memorable family holiday, to save in your photo album.  The sweeping views over grass farm fields to the sea lead the eye towards the Jurassic Coast, providing a backdrop of tranquillity. A perfect setting for your dream holiday of peace, privacy, fun and exploration.

This large holiday home of open plan design is a fantastic holiday home, with plenty of space, a games room, minstrel gallery and a grand piano.  The sweeping gardens overlook Kimmeridge Bay, listen for the sound of the sea in harmony with the birdsong; sounds that are totally unobtrusive and good for the soul.

Enjoy the spacious, elegant and comfortable accommodation in this old converted stone barn. You can open the large French doors and feast your eyes on the views across the Purbeck coastline.  All along the front of the house the rooms have uninterrupted sea views.  You are within easy reach of the rocky shoreline, where you will find driftwood to collect and rock pools and caves to discover.

Kimmeridge village is a delight whatever the time of year. Within the village you can enjoy a meal out at Clavell's Restaurant, which is a short stroll from your cottage.  Also in walking distance, The Etches Collection  is  well worth a visit: it brings to life the Jurassic age and is home to the fossil collection of local collector Steve Etches.

NEW COTTAGE OCTOBER 2019

The Stone Barn is an exceptional building in a very good location, allowing great flexibility in terms of accommodation and activities. The building has great character and the pictures on the Dorset Cottage Holidays website give a very good idea of both the nature and type of accommodation it offers.
There are lovely views from the front of the building down to Kimmeridge Bay & the sea, and a footpath down to the bay starts from just beyond the entrance to the "cottage". In addition, the Etches Fossil Museum is very close by as is a very nice Restaurant/Cafe (Clavell's Restaurant). This licensed cafe is very valuable facility for the village as it has no pubs.
The Stone Barn had a wide selection of board & other games available to use including a full sized table tennis table. The building included good WiFi connections, which was particularly useful as the village does not appear to have mobile phone coverage (there is also a landline in the building, should you find it really necessary to phone someone). There is a large selection of DVD's available, which was good to have as the cottage did not appear to be able to receive:"normal TV", although if you have a tablet with you can stream BBC iplayer etc.
The building also had two very good log burning stoves and a plentiful supply of well seasoned logs were also supplied which is a pleasant change from some others I have heard of.
The only slight negative that comes to mind was that there was generally no view of the sea from the bedroom windows (most were North facing), but clearly there would have been limitations on what could be done with converting such an old and characterful building.

The Stone Barn was perfect. The location was beautiful with views to the coast at Kimmeridge and the downs.
The accommodation was clean, well equipped and very comfortable. We had 12 staying and still had plenty of space for everyone. The games room was an added bonus, we loved the table tennis.
