Tastefully presented and finished to a high standard, this property will appeal to those of you visiting with extended family and friends. A choice of living areas provides space to entertain and relax in while the 20-foot kitchen-diner has all you need for cooking up and serving a feast.
From the entrance you will find doors leading to the three reception rooms and impressive large kitchen/diner. Off the kitchen, the utility room leads to a self-contained ground floor double bedroom complete with en-suite shower room, perfect for those wishing additional privacy. From the kitchen/diner, French doors lead to a patio area that captures the late afternoon sun.
From the lounge, French doors will take you to a large garden terrace, where you can enjoy the morning sun with your coffee. The enclosed garden is mainly laid to lawn including a grate-covered pond and is stocked with a range of mature shrubs and trees; perfect for children to explore and build a den!
On the first floor via a split-level staircase, there are a further 4 bedrooms, all of which are well proportioned with high ceilings throughout. To the left you will find the master king with en-suite shower room and a further large king room with views over the garden. To the right - 1 twin bedded room and 1 double with views of the pretty garden. On this same level, you will also find the family bathroom which boasts a walk-in shower, large bath to luxuriate in and under-floor heating.
Storage is generous with a utility room/cloakroom providing additional space for those muddy or sandy boots. There is also a small covered outdoor section for storing your wetsuits and beach paraphernalia.
West Lodge has the benefits of being a wonderful rural retreat yet it is within easy reach of local amenities and attractions. It is located just a mile outside Corfe Castle and a short stroll from the village of Church Knowle, with its local pub and fish restaurant. West Lodge is positioned in the centre of the Isle of Purbeck, designated an area of outstanding natural beauty, with a World Heritage Jurassic coastline. Such a central location means that the famous dinosaur/fossil beach of Kimmeridge to the West, the bustling seaside town of Swanage to the South and the Blue Flag sandy beaches of Studland to the East are all within 15 minutes drive of West Lodge. No navigating narrow country lanes or long journeys to the coast!
Paths and trails lead from the doorstep along the valley floor or up onto the ridge of the Purbeck Way and are popular with walkers and cyclists alike. Maps and books of trails are provided, as too is a comprehensive list of what to do in the area. Just 5 miles from West Lodge is the market town of Wareham, where you will find eateries, pubs and shops. Grab yourself an ice cream or take a boat trip along the River Frome. There are so many different things to do here you will truly be spoilt for choice and after a full day of exploring, what better way to end it than by returning to West Lodge to unwind and relax with your family and friends. Whether it is the sun-seeking beach escape or the festive celebration, West Lodge has year-round appeal.

Lovely comfortable and well equipped property with beautiful garden in a great peaceful location.
Children sad to leave the garden + well equipped front room.
Ideal location for so much to see and do. Perfect short walk to Corfe! Also, Stone carving at Burngate highlite!
What a great find - we will be back! Thanks
The range of toys on offer was much appreciated by our two year old! The adults loved the large kitchen/dining area and large lounge overlooking the gardens.
Very comfortable beds, and several bath/shower rooms were convenient for a large group and the downstairs bedroom/ensuite ideal for someone with a disability.
We had a problem soon after arrival with a leaking toilet; DHCottages responded immediately, and a plumber arrived within the hour on a Saturday evening!
We would recommend this property.
The weather was kind enough for breakfasts and dinners outside as well.
It is also very well stocked with all the essentials.
Those that required TV could do so in one of 2 rooms at the front, otherwise it was sitting in the attractive room looking onto the garden;
A very enjoyable stay, handy for Swanage and Studland beaches.
However we found the sofas in the TV room uncomfortable, one was saggy and had no support, the other was very hard and unforgiving.
This is only a minor issue compared to the other very good points about this property.
The garden was also large and beautifully kept. We had our breakfast out there every morning.
The area was nice and pretty quiet and a really good base for getting out and exploring the many places nearby. Lots to see within 30 mins drive from the house. Our favourites were Studland Bay and Lulworth Cove.
The only negative I can think of was the doors were a bit noisy at night when opening and closing. The floorboards also made noise when walking across the rooms upstairs (mainly noticeable at night) but other than that, the house was fabulous and I would highly recommend.
I went with all my family, young children included and it was a delight to be there. It is spacious and comfortable. The children loved the toys and the garden.
we will definitely be returning in the future, so much to do in the area - Monkey World, Blue Pool and lots of lovely fresh air on the beach.
the New Inn great for a Seafood meal.
we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, 5 STARS all round
The house has everything a family requires and everything has been thought of.
Kingston Lacey is well worth a visit as is Lulworth Cove - stunning rock formations.
even the weather has been kind, I am sure we will be back
It was warm, comfortable, well appointed and with excellent facilities
we were only here for week so local visits were limited to a visit to Swanage via the Steam Train and a wonderful local animal sanctuary at Church Knowle.
we would recommend this letting to anyone of a discerning taste
Excellent!!
we enjoyed an extremely blustery walk at Kimmeridge and brisk walk to Corfe Castle.
Many a tasty meal round the ample sized dining table.
Brilliant - we will be back!!!!!
this house is a real find - I am sure we will back again soon.
We all had a lovely time. Would be very happy to return given the chance.
