Flowers by Candlelight

The award-winning Lower Gardens Bournemouth are the venue for ‘Flowers by Candlelight’ as they are transformed into an enchanting oasis of flickering flames. In addition to the lighting of the candles, there are fire shows, entertainers, art workshops and live bands.

Now in its 9th year, this family Country Fair has something for everyone. All day entertainment will include Galloping Acrobatics Horse Display Team, birds of prey flying displays, The Purbeck Ferrets, terrier racing, children’s entertainer Mario Magic , the goat show including bottle feeding lambs and kids, children’s petting pens, historical re-enactment and much much more. Plus demonstrations of rural skills for you to enjoy.

Margaret Green – Companion Dog Show and Family Fun Day

Our annual Companion Dog Show is back this year and it will be even bigger and better! Join us with your pooch on the 6th of August at our Church Knowle Centre in Dorset for a doggie packed day. The day will include a mixture of dog show classes, dog agility, local traders from all around Dorset, face painting, a bouncy castle, a brilliant raffle and tombola, gorgeous refreshments and local produce as well as much more to enjoy!

Dorset Dogs Festival

Dorset Dogs’ fantastic annual celebration of dogs, green spaces and the countryside will take place at Upton Country Park!

Look forward to a fun-filled day for dogs and their folks, with a fun dog show, children’s activities, doggie obedience and dancing displays and lots of stalls – and of course lots of dogs having a go at agility or the fun rally course. Join the guided walkies, enter the dog show or just sit on the grass and enjoy!

Weymouth Carnival

The carnival has been celebrated in Weymouth on the third Wednesday in August for over 20 years. Both The Red Arrows and The Battle of Britain will be spotted in the skies of Weymouth & Portland during the day. Weymouth Carnival is a whole day packed with family orientated fun which includes stalls, fairground rides, games, performances, music, food and much, much more.

Knoll Gardens

Wild About Herbs – Children’s workshop, walk and potion making with Kate Scott at Knoll Gardens. A great way for children (6 – 12), to get outdoors, connect with nature and learn about the amazing herbs growing around them in a fun and creative way. Includes garden trail, herbal art and making simple and safe lotions and potions to take home! 10.30am – 12 noon. £15 to include one adult per child. Buckham Fair

Fantastic traditional family fair held on Martin Clune’s (Doc Martin!) land. Just outside Beaminster, with something for everyone it really is a proper British day out.

Purbeck Valley Folk Festival

A small festival located on a farm. Expect to see the usual Purbeck folk faces at the lunchtime song sessions, youth workshops, puppet shows, poetry slam and a few new workshops.

Great Dorset Steam Fair: 

If you’re looking for an excellent fun and action packed day out for all the family, you’ll love the Great Dorset Steam Fair. Traditionally this English fair is held at the village of Tarrant Hinton, near Blandford Forum in the heart of the beautiful Dorset countryside.Further directions are superfluous. Just find the village on the map, head in that direction and follow everyone else to the show.

Open Air Cinema – Walled Garden Poole

Enjoy high definition projection, giant screens and superb audio. The events offer a range of ticket options, from bring your own to a choice of seating options including deckchairs, single bean bags and double bean bags to cuddle up on. It’s not just about the film, there will be food and drink on sale as well.

Bournemouth Air Festival

A thrilling spectacle in the sky.  Bournemouth Pier and Beach are the setting for a fabulous display of every type of airplane and helicoptor.  From somersaulting helicoptors to the Red Arrows or Red Devils, the air show is a must this summer.  The crowds do build up but it is suitable for all and best of all its FREE.
