Froxfield Cottage is a cosy renovated quarryman’s cottage built in the 1850s, sympathetically decorated in a mix of contemporary and traditional style.
Located along a private path at the end of a small terrace, in the village of Langton Matravers, this cottage is an ideal destination for a relaxing family holiday or get away with friends. From a modest exterior, the cottage opens up to reveal spacious accommodation for up to six people.
The bedrooms are tastefully presented in neutral tones with your comfort in mind. Views towards the sea at Swanage can be enjoyed from the first floor bedroom, with king size bed and en suite wc, a real treat to wake up to after a peaceful night’s sleep. There is also a pretty twin bedded room on this floor. The second floor’s bedroom with vaulted ceiling, also with en suite wc, benefits a triple aspect with both sea and countryside views.
The cottage is enveloped by beautiful countryside and the dramatic Purbeck Hills, perfect for those wishing to enjoy either peaceful country walks or an active cycling holiday. The South West Coast Path, affords some of the most stunning scenery in Dorset. Langton Matravers benefits from a traditional village pub which serves food daily, post office and store, Purbeck Stone museum and children’s adventure farm. The seaside town of Swanage is pure nostalgia and less than a 5 minute drive away, where you will find a blue flag gently shelving sandy beach and sheltered waters, you may even spot dolphins and seals out in the bay, which can often be seen from Dulston Country Park . Ride a steam train through the countryside, walk along the Victorian pier and Sample the local fare in the quality bistros, sea view restaurants, traditional pubs and tearooms. The town also has a thriving events calendar with a variety of railway events, jazz, folk, fish festivals and the annual regatta and carnival week, always popular with locals and visitors alike.

Froxfield was a lovely cottage, surprisingly spacious and in a good location. The cottage was very clean and everything felt very safe and secure in these Covid times! Plenty of footpaths from the door and easy to get to Swanage, Corfe and other nearby attractions. Lovely views from some of the bedrooms.
Mrs Boutle September 2020 01/01/2021
Beautifully decorated and excellent WiFi. V comfortable for 2 adults and 2 kids.
Mr Slater 01/01/2021
We stayed at Froxfield over the Christmas period. It was decorated beautifully, the cottage is real home from home, just so warm and cozy, everything has been thought of. The beds are very comfortable too!
Thank you very much for making our Christmas even more special
Lorraine Dougan 02/01/2020
The weather was amazing for our stay at Froxfield in September. We really enjoyed staying here, it was clean, comfortable, and well equipped. The location of the cottage is perfect for walking as it's so close to the Priests Way. It's a pleasant walk to Swanage or Worth Matravers and the coastal path scenery is beautiful! The local pub has good food and is very friendly too.
Margaret 23/10/2019
We were very grateful for the welcome things - very thoughtful. Everything was comfortable, very clean and worked. Best holiday cottage shower ever! Lovely views which isn't important but an added bonus. No problems.

Two minor 'even better ifs'. Middle bedroom bed was rather creaky - not a honeymoon bed! We didn't like the diffusers.

Otherwise reallt great - thank you.
Stephen Henderson 08/08/2019
We had a wonderful week in this clean, very well equipped cottage, we didn't want for anything. A quiet location, but not far from the local pub and a nice walk to the coast. Highly recommended
Marion, Richard and friends 25/06/2019
Froxfield Cottage is spotlessly clean, very cosy and well equipped, there is nothing you would want that isn’t provided. The location is perfect, a walk to the shop, pub and the sea. We enjoyed wonderful weather which made it even more perfect, we would definitely like to return.
Thank you very much
Michelle Heath 08/03/2019
We've stayed in several cottages in and around Langton Matravers. This is a good location, and the cottage is maintained to a high standard. It was warm, cosy and very clean. The only draw back is that if you're in the attic bedroom you have to come down two floors to use the toilet at night! We will definitely book again.
Bridget 05/11/2018
Here again for our second visit of the year, this time for the Vintage and Steam/Folk Festival weekend, plus the rest of the week which was great. Lots of sunshine and, as always, the cottage is perfect.
Shirley, Bernie and Bob 24/09/2018
We’ve had a great week at Froxfield Cottage. Thank you for the welcome pack – much appreciated! The cottage is really comfortable and well equipped – you have thought of everything! Loved all the info on places to visit. Wareham Forest is fabulous, our dog loved it there. Also Arne and Durlston are really beautiful. Already planning our next trip.
Denise, Steve and Stan 11/09/2018
Lovely week in the cottage and had amazing sunny weather. Great cottage, nice and quiet but easy to access everywhere. Well stocked, clean and tidy. Added touch of bread, butter, milk eggs and biscuits, how lovely. Thank you. Can recommend Studland beaches and especially liked Shell Bay as a nice sandy beach..
Jean and Michael 01/09/2018
From the moment we walked through the door of Froxfield Cottage we knew we had found a gem (and we've rented a few times in this area). The property had an warm and welcoming atmosphere that immediately made us feel at home - I can see why this has been a popular and much-loved holiday cottage for many years. It was comfortable, well-equipped and incredibly peaceful, accommodating four adults and two young children with ease without ever feeling crowded. The little garden also proved to be an ideal barbeque area! The location was ideal, as we could be in Swanage within 10 minutes. However you could easily forget about the car for the week and simply take advantage of all the beautiful walks (and pubs) which can be done from the house. In summary, highly recommended and we'd be happy to stay here again.
Andrew Parsonage 25/08/2018
Thank you for a lovely stay in your lovely cottage. We had a fabulous family holiday here, with 2 boys (6&3). They both loved the Steam Railway, Beach, Crabbing, Durlston Country Park and also Sea Fishing. We will definitely come again, the cottage had everything we needed.
May family 20/08/2018
Clean and tidy with ample equipment.Fortunately the cottage is off the road so very little traffic noise although the village gets more than its fair share of traffic through and parking on the road can be a bit hairy! We were 4(including 1 child) so bathroom facilities fine but not sure that 6 people would find it acceptable. We enjoyed the area etc so that was the main thing and would hve been a 4 if bathroom facilities bigger.
Mike 17/08/2018
Many thanks for a lovely stay. Very well equipped house and a pleasure to stay in. The bread etc on arrival was very welcome. Visited Brownsea, Corfe and Swanage many times. Loved the location, and a gorgeous run/walk to Dancing Ledge too. Will recommend!! Thank you.
Bridget 13/08/2018
We have had a lovely week here and enjoyed everything – Studland Bay, Swanage Carnival (with Fireworks) and most of all staying in this wonderful cottage. The welcome pack was a great start as we arrived at the cottage very late at night – thank you. We were all so comfortable and the garden is so pretty. Thank you for a super week.
Jane, Jonathan, Amelia and Charlotte 06/08/2018

We had a wonderful break, the cottage was very welcoming and we appreciated the items which were left ready for us. A good centre visits to Lulworth; Swanage; Sandbanks; Wareham. We would recommend RSPB Reserve at Arne a wonderful place with so many different habitats. We would also recommend two local hostelries, namely The Kings Arms and The Square and Compass, both full of local character.
And yes we would like to come back to stay again.
Chris Chiverton 26/04/2018
We had a relaxing 3 night stay in this warm and comfortable cottage. The groceries on arrival were very welcome and there was a very high standard throughout in this immaculate home from home. We look forward to returning in the warmer weather so that we can enjoy the garden and local walks.

CH and Family 18th Aug 12/10/2017
We stayed at Froxfield Cottage for my daughters wedding at nearby Smedmore House. The cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival. The cottage is small but perfectly formed. There are lovely views from the upper windows and inside the cottage is well decorated and maintained.
The stairs are steep and the loo is a long way from the top floor bedroom so probably not the best choice to pop granny up there but the middle bedroom has an ensuite cloakroom.
The only item i could have usefully had that was missing was an iron and ironing board before the wedding, but not the usual requirements of holiday makers.
The extra touches of milk, bread and butter to welcome us and a hand written card were very special.
Sue Clayton 12/10/2017
A great stay in your lovely comfortable house/ Thank you so much for the amazing welcome pack. Visited Studland Beach, Abbotsbury Tropical Gardens, West Bay (Broadchurch), The Square and Compass pub - pies and pints and a long walk to Winspit/St Albans Head and back, Corfe Castle, the model village (great lunch) and the Rex Cinema Wareham twice. Will be back next year.
Mr and Mrs F Norfolk 12/10/2017
We had a warm welcome in this beautiful cosy cottage, with a well equiped kitchen and lounge (books, cd's, dvd's). Beautiful and spacious bedrooms, difficult to choose which one was best. And a nice outdoor space as well.
Christina 12/10/2017
A lovely clean, cosy and well provisioned cottage located in a small village with pub and post office store close enough to Swanage for every need during our stay. Lots of fantastic walks to choose with stunning scenery and beautiful villages all very close by to explore. With so much to see and do in so little time, we will be returning!
The Corcoran Family 18/08/2017
A lovely comfy cottage in a perfect place to explore the Isle of Purbeck. We really appreciated the warm welcome with groceries and a kind card. The only thing we might change is that the mattresses were a bit lumpy but that might be a matter of personal taste. Thank you for a great stay.
Naomi 11/07/2017
Steam Gala weekend so teaming with rail enthusiasts, lots of trains to watch and travel on.. perfect. Thanks for a lovely weekend in Froxfield cottage

FB Worcester 09/05/2017
Lovely well equipped cottage, everything you will need. Many varied and intersting walks in the surrounding area. Lots of information on the local area provided in the cottage.
J Banks 10/04/2017
A stunning holiday cottage with all the trimmings you need. Excellently kitted out with a great kitchen and comfy beds, we all slept very well.
We didn't use the garden as we spent Christmas week at the cottage, but the very generous owners went to lots of trouble to make the cottage very festive and welcoming. A lovely touch that delighted our 8 year old no end.
Highly recommend the cottage but it a little walk from the road to the cottage down a small path which was very icy on the cold mornings.
Mike Brown 12/01/2017
Thank you for a brilliant stay we have really enjoyed ourselves and exploring the Dorset coast. We will be back for sure.

Could you please pass on a big thank you to the owners who made the cottage so Christmassy it really made the holiday perfect for our daughter along with the visit from Father Christmas which was wonderful.

We had a warm welcome in this beautiful cosy cottage, with a well equiped kitchen and lounge (books, cd's, dvd's). Beautiful and spacious bedrooms, difficult to choose which one was best. And a nice outdoor space as well.

A lovely comfy cottage in a perfect place to explore the Isle of Purbeck. We really appreciated the warm welcome with groceries and a kind card. The only thing we might change is that the mattresses were a bit lumpy but that might be a matter of personal taste. Thank you for a great stay.

We had the best time this week, so many amazing walks along the SW coastal path. Thank you for the endless supply of books that give a rich insight into the lives of people and the history of this beautiful part of our country.
