Elizabeth Cottage is an adorable romantic retreat, nestled in the quintessentially English village of West Lulworth, gateway to the famous Jurassic Coast. This detached "chocolate box" thatch, once a Tudor toll house is said to have been in the family of Anne Boleyn. The cottage exudes a warm charm, making for a perfect cosy getaway or special occasion.

Period features including inglenook fire place, low ceilings, roll top bath and quaint bedrooms add to the ambience of this coastal hide away. Within a short stroll, you will find the village pub, The Castle Inn, which serves delicious food and local ales (closed Mon-Weds throughout the winter). Slightly further into the village you can enjoy fine dining at The Limestone or Lulworth Lodge and many boutique eateries, along with a fish and chip shop and ice cream parlour. Groceries may be purchased at the villiage store, fresh fish at the cove.

The famous Cove is less than a mile away and an easy flat stroll. From here you can enjoy a walk on the pebble beach or perhaps enjoy a "Lulworth rib ride" and take in the sights you simply cannot see on land. For those that are keen walkers, a steep stroll will take you over the hill to Durdle Door, simply breath taking sights to be seen and never forgotten.

After a busy day retreat to your warm cosy cottage and enjoy the evening sunshine in the pretty garden.

Please note this property does have a steep stair case with a turn, may be unsuitable for those that find stairs a challenge.

Beautiful cottage, very, very, clean, a great place for a base, nice walks in the local area, close to the local pub so you don't need to drive, Kate and her husband were very helpful ,highly recommended
Paul and Cheryl 25/03/2020
We had a lovely week at Elisabeth cottage — very cosy and an easy walk down to the cove. It rained and rained but the cottage was nice and warm when we returned so we were relieved! Thank you again for our stay :))
Natasha 26/02/2020
We had a wonderful second times in Elizabeth Cottage this summer. The cottage itself is really comfortable and cozy. Everything is spotless clean and Kate had welcome us with an amazing hamper pack of goods and fresh flowers. The location is perfect and we cannot wait to be back!
Francois Lebel 14/09/2019
Thoroughly enjoyed being so close to Lulworth cove . Cottage was perfect for the 2 of us . A very interesting place to stay . Service from Dorset cottages was spot on with any queries being dealt with . The housekeeper Kate was very attentive to ensure our holiday went well .
Judith Pearson 25/06/2019
Elizabeth cottage was exquisite. The oldest cottage in the village, if only the walls could talk!
Immaculately clean & everything we could possibly need. Kate was super helpful & welcoming; we particularly appreciated the fresh coffee, butter & chocolates.
This place is a little gem & the area outstandingly beautiful if a tad more hilly than we are used to in Suffolk.
Highly recommend a stay here, super walks too & don’t miss the ice creams at Jake’s cafe.
We were even lucky enough with the weather to have breakfast outside most days.
Andrew and Sue 23/06/2019
The cottage was a delight to stay in from start to finish. On our arrival we were greeted with some lovely touches, a very generous welcome pack, vases of cut flowers and a beautifully clean and tidy cottage. The weather was not too bad at the weekend, but got steadily worse as the week went on and although we never had the chance to meet Kate, the housekeeper, she did text us to check that everything was ok and to give us some ideas on where we might like to visit. She is a real asset and we cannot praise her enough for making us feel so welcome. We have stayed in many cottage lets over the years and this is among the best, possibly even the best.
The cottage was comfortably furnished and with all the equipment you could possibly need.
Elaine & Malcolm 18/06/2019
We had a lovely stay in this cottage filled with character. On arrival there was a hamper of goods and the lights were on to welcome us. The cottage was in a convenient place and was tidy and as described. We really enjoyed the quaint cottage although my husband who is over 6ft tall did have to mind his head we would return again. The lady who looks after the cottage was very helpful for advice and information.
Alison 05/06/2019
Thank you for allowing us to stay in such a splendid cottage, which holds so much history, we really did feel special.

The cottage has been modernised and brought up to date with wonderful, classical style.

We brought everything with us, except the kitchen sink and when we arrived, we realised that we actually didn't need any of it, as the cottage was as well equipped as our own home.

We had a very comfortable stay and WILL be back to stay again on a regular basis.

Thank you
Tracey Luke 28/05/2019
Lovely cottage, superb welcome pack and fresh flowers, great touches!
It would be fab if it were possible to open more of the windows as it got very warm despite turning most of the radiators down.
Just a suggestion, perhaps some sort of baking/ oven tray would be useful, we did a lot of self catering and it would have been handy to have one.. Also, having dodgy eyesight (oh dear! Should have gone to spec savers!!) mayhap a slightly larger tv. This is not a complaint, merely an observation., we had a lovely week thankyou!
Dafforn-Jones 24/01/2019
Beautiful cottage with good facilities and well maintained by
Kate and Jim, the caretakers who also gave us lots of good local information and made us feel welcome. West Lulworth is an excellent location for coastal walks and travelling to more inland historical places, such as Corfe Castle, Maiden Castle and Hardy's homes.
Sheila snd Colin 15/10/2018

Lovely time- our second visit to the cottage. Thanks Kate for
the goody basket. Plenty of sunshine just 2 windy days. Monkey
World and The Tank Museum are a must see! If the ranges are open,
go to Tyneham Village. Lovely cake and coffee shop in Moreton.
Sculpture by the Lakes is a gem! xx

Mr and Mrs Hastings 05/10/2018
Our second stay at Elizabeth Cottage. Beautiful as ever. Conveniently placed for Monkey World and the Tank Museum. Lulworth Cove is a must - but go off-season for quietness. A hidden Dorset gem is Sculpture by the Lakes - beautiful sculptures and gardens. Kate the caretaker of the cottage was brilliant - a very personal touch and the goodie basket was a real treat.
Beth Drake 02/10/2018
We had many wonderful days exploring the beautiful places Dorset has to offer. There is so much to see, we need to come back! The cottage is perfect and beautifully maintained. Thank you to Kate for your thoughtfulness
Colin & Sheila 01/10/2018

Spotlessly clean, great location. Walked to Lulworth Castle and
visited 'Tyneham' lots more.

Tim 28/09/2018
Lovely cottage in a brilliant area. So much to do nearby. Cottage Was spotless and very cosy.
Shelley wilkins 21/09/2018
Absolutely stunning cottage well equipped, very clean and was a very comfortable stay. Perfect location for exploring Dorset would definitely stay here again, Kate who is the housekeeper was extremely helpful so great communication. would definitely recommend this Cottage to stay in if you're exploring Dorset it was absolutely beautiful.
Andrea 14/09/2018
A beautiful, characterful property, with ample space both inside and out. Conveniently located for a wide range of attractions and spotlessly clean, with off-street parking as well. Happy to recommend unreservedly; hope we can go again.
Jamie Taylor 14/09/2018
We really appreciate the cottage by yourself and garden so lovely! Well equipped with a beautiful basket welcome gift, Probably a repeat for next year !
François Lebel 17/08/2018
My wife and I spent a glorious week at Elizabeth Cottage. Its a beautiful cottage with everything you could need or wish for at hand. The bathroom was even better than the photographs suggest and the bedrooms, kitchen and sitting room are of a good size considering that this is a 17th century cottage. TV and Wi-fi worked perfectly. Everything was spotlessly clean and Kate and Jim, who look after the cottage, are very friendly and do a wonderful job on keeping it up to scratch. The welcome pack was very much appreciated and the village shop was still open at 9.45 at night (it was summer!). Good food was enjoyed at the Castle over the road and down at the Lulworth Cove Inn. There's so much to see and do in the area, even if the Lulworth car parks are surfaced in chalk and the car got filthy! All-in-all a wonderful week at Elizabeth Cottage and we could well be back in the future.
David and Joy Morton. 25/07/2018
The cottage is well equipped and very welcoming. It provides a fantastic base for walking and exploring the local area. The nearby Castle Inn provided excellent food at a reasonable price.
Chris and Heather 13/07/2018
We had the most wonderful week at Elizabeth Cottage, it was perfect in every way, clean, comfortable, has a lovely private garden with room to park the car. It is close to the village, which is just beautiful and it is close enough to walk to the beach. We walked for miles taking in the fantastic scenery a really lovely holiday! Can’t wait to return!
Louise 14/06/2018
We both had the most amazing time, everything has been perfect. Elizabeth Cottage is gorgeous and everything provided,
Our favourite place to eat was in Wareham, The Old Granary on the Quay. Lovely walk beside the river too.
Excellent walks just on the doorstep, we'll be back!
Mr Edmunds 08/06/2018
We had an amazing holiday in such a great cottage situated in an absolutely fantastic village. The surrounding area had many wonderful walks and stunning views.
Steph Ruddy 07/06/2018
Cosy cottage, good for 2 adults, more would struggle but fine for small family. Very good equipment provided in kitchen, 2 bathrooms and pretty garden and patio area, ideal for eating al fresco. Close to Lulworth Cove, about a ten minute walk, also pub just over the road!
Only slight niggle was the army training camp nearby, from which gunfire could be heard, so not for anyone who may be sensitive to this.
However, all in all would definitely recommend as there is so much to see and do in the area.
Julie 07/06/2018
What a wonderful find! Beautiful cottage, had everything we needed, and the location has been perfect to explore this beautiful part of the world. We are sad to go!
Luke 04/06/2018
Every time you pass a 'Chocolate box' cottage you wonder what it would be like to live there, we've just had a wonderful week discovering just that!
'Snug' is the perfect description to a jewel in the crown of this truly magnificent part of the Purbeck coast.
Thank you so much!
Dean and Louise 01/06/2018
Elizabeth Cottage did not disappoint. We really appreciated the extra touches.
Such a fabulous location, so much to see and do.
The weather was kind to us and didn't affect our plans.
Need to come back and see more of this beautiful area!
Helen, Tony & Hayley 05/05/2018
We have had a wonderful time. The cottage is cosy, clean and a home from home feel to it.
The Dorset coast and countryside is stunning!
Hope to be back soon.
Rob 05/05/2018
What a lovely cottage! We had a great time. Walked and cycled miles in beautiful countryside and coastline.
Can recommend The Castle Inn, Lulworth Cove Inn, Lulworth Lodge Bistro (our favourite) and The Sailors return.
Allie & Colin 28/04/2018
Fabulous cottage and beautiful area. A week has not been enough- so much more to see! Good meals at Lulworth Cove Inn and Sailors Return.
Robert & Hilary 21/04/2018
A chocolate box cottage with history and style to match. Although a little snug for three adults we thoroughly enjoyed our week in this well equipped, clean little cottage. Kate, was extremely helpful providing advice when requested regarding rubbish collection and Sky TV and we very much appreciated the little extras provided on arrival. West Lulworth is beautiful and we were able to explore much of the area, lovely walks along the coast in both directions. Will definitely return to this part of Dorset as there is so much to see and do.
Helen Child 16/04/2018
We have had a wonderful time. The cottage is cosy, clean and has a home away from home feel to it. The host went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
The Dorset coast and countryside is stunning.
Hope to be back soon! Thanks.
Zeli, Rob & Liam 16/04/2018

What a wonderful cottage! It must sound strange for a paying guest to say this, but I felt privileged to stay here. It's the sort of place I'd pass and think "I'd love to live there" and for a week, I did! Beautifully clean, well-equipped, great location and just that little bit quirky. Perfect!

What a fabulous cottage! Chocolate box good looks with everything you need carefully planned into every nook and cranny. We loved the delicious biscuits and welcome provisions on arrival, not to mention plentiful loo roll, kitchen roll, soaps, linens and shower rack - items often overlooked in other cottages we've stayed. The attention to detail is very much appreciated - thank you! We have loved days out at Shell Bay - Studland, Burton Bradstock beach, Tanks, shopping at Wareham and our first visit to Lulworth Castle (fantastic efforts to entertain the kids). I shall miss the lovely window seat and bird song at breakfast. Weld arms- great food

Excellent holiday very comfortable cottage with everything we could possibility want, shame the local shop did not open at all and the pub across the road shut from Sunday pm until Thursday pm but I'm sure the summer months would be different.
Would defiantly recommend it to others.
