We found the cottage very comfortable and spacious . The kitchen was well equipped and the garden was great to sit out on a sunny day . We used the coastal path opposite for many walks but also found the bus service useful especially the bus from swanage to sandbanks and Bournmouth . We hope to return either next year or the year after .
Stella Hazell . 02/10/2019
This was our second stay at Tanglewood, and we had a wonderful time. The cottage is right next to Durlston Country Park, so lovely walks are literally on the doorstep. We would recommend the walk along the coast path to Dancing Ledge.
The cottage has everything you could need, and the garden is perfect for relaxing in. A few other reviewers have mentioned the climb out of Swanage - we found the easiest (and most gradual) route back up was to walk out to Peveril Point and walk up the Downs. The views are beautiful too!
Wouldn't hesitate to return again!

Tanglewood was comfortable and had the facilities we needed.
It was in a nice position near the country park and in walking distance of the town. It is a bit of a pull up the hill so my 84 year old mother-in-law needed a lift. There is a bus but you have to come home early as it stops around 5pm.
There were lots of toys which my 1-year old enjoyed playing with and the child's curtained cubby hole was sweet. It did seem odd though that the double bed wasn't in that room, it would seem more likely that a little child would be in with their parents; we had to fit the travel cot into the smaller room.
Washing machine didn't spin anymore, but oven and dishwasher were fine. Garden was nice and secure but a new washing line would be helpful.
All in all it was comfortable and just what we needed for our holiday.
Rebecca Butcher 25/08/2018
This is the second time we've stayed at Tanglewood and we had a wonderful time again. Kept it as a surprise for the children who were overjoyed when we arrived and 'moved in' as though it was home. Had everything we needed for a comfortable break. We love Tanglewood. Easy access to the town. Milk and a chilled bottle of wine on arrival and basics (tea and coffe) if yours are packed deep!
Went during carnival week so had plenty to do. This time round went to Brownsea Island, chain ferry to Poole first £1 pp return and then £19 family return to Brownsea and really easy to organise. We also went to Corfe castle and Studland beaches. In town we ate at the Hungry Shark (fish and chips) and went into Wareham to eat at the dinosaur themed SteakAsaurus (burgers, steak and chips). Played mini golf in Swanage which was also Dino themed and a bit of a hoot. Again didn't have enough time to see and do all that Dorset offers
Tracey 17/08/2018
Very enjoyable holiday. Lovely bungalow in beautiful setting.
A. Bees 03/08/2018
We had a wonderful holiday in Dorset and were blessed with very good weather.
The bungalow was in a superb position close to coastal walks and to Swanage-we walked into Swanage down the grassy bank leading to Peverill Point and so on into town. Using the pay phone in the kitchen was a mystery and we only tried once since it took a pound coin and gave nothing else.
The garden we took full advantage of after a day’s walking. A lovely garden. Overall, a good holiday.
Chris Castell 22/06/2018
A wonderful property situated in tranquil surroundings.
Well equipped with just about everything you need for your holiday.
David Barrett 21/05/2018
Sleeps five but travelled as a couple. Two friends stayed 2 nights only.

Great bungalow on the edge of Swanage handy for Durlston Country Park walks. Still close enough to town centre to use buses/steam train and get to pubs and restaurant on foot if you can manage hills. Plenty of parking on gravel drive.

Best-equipped kitchen ever seen. Also, plentiful equipment like Iron, cleaning materials, vacuum etc.

Good double bedroom with large fitted wardrobe and sink. Second bedroom (used only 2 nights) is bigger with 3 single beds, one separated by curtain.

Bathroom and cloakroom are at centre of property with no windows, so no natural ventilation and steamy. Not to my personal preference but wouldn't bother many people. Still happy to give 5 stars though.

Lots to do in area by bus (get the £24 7-day pass for Bournemouth/Poole/Corfe Castle/Brownsea Island/Studland/Wareham) and car can be used for more remote areas like Lulworth and Kimmeridge Bay.

Steam trains in Swanage a great attraction.

Stayed at Tanglewood for the Swanage carnival week and had an amazing time. Cottage is lovely and comfortable. The kitchen us very well equipped with everything I needed for the week. Beautiful garden and patio area and bbq available if the sun chooses to shine. Only quip is the double bed seems to sink in the middle. The children loved their room with three beds and lots of play space.
Swanage area is lovely.
Tanglewood is opposite the Durleston Country Park with the entrance to the woods opposite. Walk was lovely but very hilly. Walk down to Swanage was 10-15 mins downhill so do expect a trek home. We tried a couple of routes home and found the route from the pier up the Durleston Rd the less taxing. (Still a hike mind!)
Recommend the carnival week as there is so much going on. Too much to say here but highlights were fireworks, carnival parade and Red Arrows. (Recommend ordering a programme before you go to plan your week. We did and it helped)
Around Swanage we visited Studland Bay a couple of times, Corfe Castle, Putlake animal Farm (wet day) and of course the beach.
So much to do that we could have easily stayed another couple of days. For once, reluctant to return home!
Tracey 18/08/2017
Tanglewood is ideal for walkers going to ,Durlestone Country park , and for the beautiful Victorian town of Swanage, with it' s lovely beach. Tanglewood is well equipped and comfortable.
Margaret Goss 04/08/2017
Bungalow well equipped. Did not need anything. A couple of things. One, curtains in lounge [though blinds were used ] Left hand tap bath room sink, had to turn opposite hand [ just had to remember ].Place it self was clean. Nice garden for a relaxing afternoon with a drink or two. Though a bit of a trek from the beach , the exercise did us good. Will definitely use again.
Mr Martin Butler. 04/08/2017
Beautiful accommodation in a superb location. Had two really good weeks here in June, the bungalow is very well equipped, has everything you need and is very peaceful. The walk into Swanage is up and down hill but manageable.
John and Tina 18/07/2017
Cottage was clean and well laid out with everything we needed. Plenty of room with ample parking on front drive. only had to cross the road to go on good walks to town or the country park and beyond. Only criticism we had there was a faint noise in main bedroom from adjoining semi that backed onto it. Possibly radio but well into night.
Keith Ball 10/07/2017
Our 4th time back to Tanglewood. The bungalow is in a very good position about a 15 minute walk into Swanage although uphill on the way back.Very peaceful. The bungalow is very well equipped and we had a great stay.

Just one suggestion. There is a shower above the bath but no shower curtain, hooks are there for one. When you use the shower the water goes everywhere. Not everyone wants to bath and this is my only negative point.

Another very good weeks stay, the weather was very good as well.
Mrs C Schooling 24/10/2016
Another holiday in the peaceful bungalow, with excellent walks to Durlston and the beach. Beautiful garden to relax In.
Problem with electrics quickly and efficiently dealt with.
Margaret Goss 10/08/2016
Tanglewood is situated on the hill above Swanage, easily accessible and ideally located for exploring the surrounding areas. Fantastic scenery from cliffs and white water through to sandy beaches and ice creams.

An opportunity for lots of walks in the area and Swanage is ideally placed for lots of visits in the region and only a short drive back to Poole, Sandbanks or Bournemouth.
Andrew L 21/06/2016
We were delighted by Swanage itself which is a charming resort on the rise, full of NICE people with plenty to do such as heritage railway and boat trips, a nice promenade , good eating places and plenty of interesting shops to browse.
Tanglewood was well maintained and spotless, a credit to the cleaning staff. We would hope to visit again in the future, The only reservation is that the property is quite a climb up from the town centre and sea front. However we managed it but you can drive down and park if necessary. The property is very quietly situated
