Canaan is a great holiday home with everything you need to enjoy your stay.
The village location is perfect.
It was our second time there and we weren't disappointed.
Heather Archer 14/09/2019
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Canaan. There was plenty of space and facilities for our party of four adults and a two year old. The sea views were an added bonus.
We highly recommend this property
C Coates 12/06/2019
The property was lovely with good views and an excellent location. The cottage was always warm and there was hot running water on demand.
The bedrooms were a good size with very adequate bathroom facilities. The kitchen was very well equipped and the lounge comfortable and spacious.

There is however just one thing. A couple of the bases of the single beds were a bit unsteady which resulted in one member of our group not sleeping well over the period of our stay.. This was not reported to the owner at the time as it was a holiday period and we did not think it was something that the owner could do anything about.

Overall, we had a lovely time and were very pleased with the property.
Ruth Irwing 10/01/2019
We were a party of 7 adults and one toddler there to celebrate 70th birthday on a bright but very cold November weekend. The layout of Canaan is well suited to entertaining so whoever is cooking isn't left out. Was really useful having utility room with extra fridge, The house was warm and welcoming but we would have appreciated a few more logs as we had to go out and source some on 2nd day.

Our little granddaughter loved the galleried landing where she could look down on the kitchen, and the garden was very safe for her. Lovely to see cows passing. We were very lucky with weather so got the most out of the views and the sunrise over the sea at Winspit. Some of us enjoyed the walks, one day to Swanage and one day to Scott Arms at Kingston via Chapman's Pool - stunning views., whilst others enjoyed Monkey World.

I would highly recommend this property and would love to go back again.
Hilary Craggs 24/11/2018
We had an excellent family holiday in this modern, well-provided,presented and maintained house set in attractive countryside at Worth Matravers. The property is light, warm, spacious. Everything worked. Highly recommended..
Sir John Baker 09/11/2018
The property was very clean and an excellent position
Peter 05/11/2018
Very well equipped and homely cottage. Martha our cockapoo enjoyed running round in back garden and cows were an interesting bonus! Lots of lovely walks nearby.
Sue Barrett 31/08/2018
Canaan is a bit off the beaten track but always nice going past the dairy and the cows (though the coutry aromas may not be to everyone's taste!). The owners had thoughtfully provided some basics for us on arrival which was very welcome.

The house itself was lovely, well equipped, clean and tidy and very comfortable. Not the greatest of sound proofing though but this was tolerable.

Clearer instructions about recycling would have been helpful, as we ended up not having ours collected.

Given it is by a diary, there are a lot of flies, but again, these were tolerable.

The nearby pub is good if unusual. The village shop seemed to keep very odd hours which was frustrating if you just needed basics, as this meant a car journey into the next village.

Overall, I would not hesitate to reccommend Canaan as a holiday home, we had a great relaxing time there, it is a great location for travelling from and i reckon we may well go back.
Lochlan MacDonald 25/08/2018
A very sociable space. Able to cook and chat while preparing food. Not having a mobile phone signal caused a problem when we ordered groceries on line. We had 2 online deliveries which worked well. Useful having the landline. Very well equipped kitchen even did a Sunday roast with no problems. The owner very friendly and let us see the cows being milked and all the new calves. Garden furniture very good with enough seating for everyone. Plenty to do in the area.
Mrs E Sykes 17/08/2018
Canaan was a perfect retreat for our holiday with wonderful equipped kitchen and beautiful bathrooms. The small room on left hand side was so useful for our surplus bags etc. Maybe a couple of deckchairs could be available and kept there. For use in the garden.
My husband and I had the upstairs twin room. I did find the wardrobe and hangers a bit lacking though appreciate the decor scheme . Also the single mattresses are getting to the end of their life.
I hope this is a constructive criticism .
I would definitely use Dorset Holidays again and think the layout/info of the brochure is superb.
Brenda Margereson 03/08/2018
A lovely house with all the modern conveniences required and wonderful open plan design.
It's in a quiet, rural location with a footpath around a 100m from the house that leads to the nearby stunning coastal trails.
We used the house for doing a combination of lovely local coastal walks and touring the beautiful surrounding area.
The owner was friendly and helpful - he checked everything was fine with us and also gave good local advice.
David Cutting 25/06/2018
The house is in a lovely location and very well equipped. There was a 'welcome pack' of bread, milk, butter and biscuits which we enjoyed and the owner popped in to make sure everything was OK.

We will certainly go back there if we want to visit the area again.
Tony Matthews 18/05/2018
As a large family, we were very happy with our stay in Canaan, Worth Matravers. Very friendly owners, a lovely house and a superb region for walks and explorations. We were happy to gather and relax together in warmth and comfort on the chilly evenings. What more can you want for a family holiday!
E Alden 04/05/2018
Had a fantastic long weekend in this lovely property, everything to a very high standard.
One thing that must be pointed out was that the mattress on the double bed was rather firm, but generally the house was very comfortable, especially with the wood burner alight in the spacious living area.
Rather surprised by the lack of welcome pack, but the pack of biscuits and carton of milk were very much appreciated.
We had such a lovely relaxing time in this very special property in such a superb village that we hope to return again later this year
Graham Sutton 26/04/2018
I found all dealing with Dorset Cottage Holidays to be very helpful and efficient. This led to a successful holiday for us all as from start to finish we felt you had our interests at heart.
S. Lawrence 16/03/2018
Thank you for a lovely stay, in your very nice and well equipped house. Very friendly owners, who made sure we had everything we needed.

It was just what we were looking for and we will definitely stay there again.
Megan Keeling 24/11/2017
Great house in a fantastic location. Good walks from house finished off at the pub for a pasty and pint perfect . Visited lots of new places on the Jurassic coast we’ve not been to before . Will probably visit the same house next year .
Marie pike 14/11/2017
We had a wonderful week staying in this property. It was warm and cosy and super for our large group and 2 dogs. It was well equipped except for the lack of serving dishes. It was clean and welcoming and felt very homely.
Louise S-H 19/10/2017
Fab cottage in a fab location. The cottage had everything we needed to make our holiday perfect and was just about the best accommodation we have ever experienced. No doubt we will return, hopefully with better weather !
Martin White 12/10/2017
Everything about this place was wonderful, cannot recommend highly enough !
Mo Jaffer 16/09/2017
The property was ideal for our family group of three generations. Very well equipped to a high standard. The location was great for exploring the area generally and for local walks to the coast in particular.
Peter Stas 18/08/2017
Canaan was a most impressive house, clean, well equipped and very suitable for our family, including one member with mobility issues. The location is outstanding and it was a delight to have cows pass by the door. The walking is superb and the whole area has lots to offer.
We would have no hesitation in returning.
Merrill Dear 19/07/2017
Could not fault this holiday cottage, great house in a beautiful spot.
Philippa Redfern 18/07/2017
A beautiful house and location. The house had everything and more . Charming home owner visited to check we had everything we needed and he couldn't have been more helpful. Perfect location for exploring the wonderful beaches and beauty spots in Dorset would highly recommend Canaan for a relaxing holiday for all ages we hope to return in the future.
Gill lewis 18/07/2017
The house was beautiful, spacious, and very well equipped, and ideal for our 3 generation of family holiday. The location was perfect for dog walking, and visiting pretty Dorset. A really lovely memorable holiday.
Frances Scotchett 30/06/2017
This cottage was the ideal base for three generations of our family to enjoy time together. We have been coming to the area for many years, making the most of the wonderful coast path, the nature and wildlife of places like Durlston park and Brownsea, the beaches and this year especially, the varied choice of places to eat well - from pasties and cider at the Square and Compass to the delights of The Pig on the Beach.
The design of the cottage is a triumph - our toddling granddaughter could safely explore inside and out - with that added excitement of passing tractors - while we could prepare meals and relax in one communal space, making the most of the view down to Winspit.
We had a wonderful week, helped by blue skies and sunshine, I hope we will be back one day. Thank you.
Wendy P. 22/05/2017
Canaan was the perfect holiday cottage for our 3 families, plenty of space which was bright and airy. Great location for walks and exploring the Dorset Coast. Thank you, we will definitely visit again.
Christine 12/05/2017
The house was beautifully furnished and thoughtfully equipped. The location was so quiet, only birdsong and the odd passing tractor, the latter to the delight of the three year old! Walks can be taken straight from the property to the wonderful Dorset coast.

We were absolutely delighted with our choice and cannot fault a thing.
Catherine Newman 17/04/2017
3 of us decided to get away from the London chaos and what a perfect place to spend it, we loved how remote it was but not too remote as the sound of the odd tractor and the cows kept us knowing we were still in civilisation.
The cottage it's self was amazing, so spacious and perfect open plan so I could cook whilst the others watched a film or 2. We each had our own bedroom and our own bathroom. The walks were incredible and the village of worth matravers is a lovely quaint English village but be prepared to stock up on everything before you get there as there isn't really a supply shop and make sure you take cash if you want to visit the square and compass as they do not except cards, not that this bothered us as swanage is such a short drive away and a great excuse to pop out for some proper fish and chips. We walked into Kingston the back way which was enjoyable and tiring and spent some time in the pub there staring over corfe castle. When we go down to the area we always make sure that our first stop is norden farm so we can pick up all the local produce for our fry ups plus some very good mince, at very good prices we highly recommend stopping off there. The walks in the surrounding area of Canaan are amazing and the views on top of the cliff tops are incredible. We can't wait to go back, it will be hard to decide on something else rather than Canaan but we generally have a rule of not staying in the same place twice, however we do know we will be booking again with Dorset holiday cottages as they were great.
Harry Rose-Johnston 17/03/2017
This is a great modern holiday home in an excellent location; beautifully presented and very well equipped with lots of walks nearby.
Stuart Nutt 26/02/2017
Beautiful house, we loved the open plan layout - lounge, dining room and kitchen all part of the same room which was very sociable. Bedrooms were comfortable with plenty of towels provided. We would stay there again.
Jonathan 26/01/2017
We all really enjoyed our week in this superbly presented and well equipped house. Can't think of anything we'd change apart from maybe the weather, although for the time of year I think overall it was pretty kind to us. The welcome pack was also really appreciated.
Ken Butcher 14/10/2016
Beautiful modern house on the fantastic Isle of Purbeck. On the edge of one of the area's loveliest villages - and a short walk from one of the best, and quirkiest, pubs in England. The house has everything you could reasonably want. The sitting out area is small but sufficient and some of the country's most stunning beaches and countryside are on your doorstep.
Simon Glover 06/10/2016
We had a fantastic holiday in this wonderful cottage yet again. It is simply perfect for us and our four children. Thank you for making us feel so welcome. We are looking forward to staying at Canaan again next summer!
Kathryn McMenemy 19/08/2016
We were delighted to find Canaan for our family holiday this year - 2016. We numbered seven, 6 adults and a 2-year-old. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds very comfortable. The bathrooms (3) were modern and spotless, with wonderfully strong water pressure in the showers. However, the jewel in the Canaan crown is the living area which is open plan and really large with a huge kitchen area, dining area, and big squishy sofas at the living room end. The kitchen is outstandingly well-equipped. For those who cannot live without their techie toys there is no mobile coverage, but there is Wifi which, if one has WhatsApp, allows for telephone calls, the sound quality of which is clear as a bell. Obviously e-mail works too; and the tv has dozens of channels to satisfy everyone. The garden is not large but is cleverly laid out on two levels. There are two picnic tables with benches, deckchairs and a garden bench, so there is always somewhere to sunbathe or sit out of the sun. We had wonderful weather so the two lots of sliding doors could be open to the garden every day. We bemoan the fact that we only had one week there when we all really would have liked two. Canaan is perfectly situated outside Worth Matravers and in the midst of beautiful countryside where the walkers among us were out exploring daily. There is so much to see and do in the area, for all ages, that we hope to return to this perfectly lovely house one day. For two weeks, next time. Our thanks to the owners who have done a magnificent job.
Joan Polden 19/08/2016
Lovely spacious cottage, ideal for our family get-together with two couples and a family - downstairs two bedrooms and bathroom were easily shut off from the large kitchen/lounge/dining area so suited the parents with child. Sofas really comfortable. Had a problem with the hob which seemed to have a mind of its own, but spoke to the owner about this. The area is lovely, lots of walking from there, and we enjoyed visiting Durlstone Country Park, Studland, Brownsea Island, Corfe Castle, steam railway, and Wareham. Car park prices at Swanage put us off! So much more to do in the area, we're hoping to return next year.
Jill 16/07/2016
Just returned from a week there. Three generation holiday including a 3 yr old and 5 month old plus a dog. Both my sons and partners. The property wowed us. Brilliant layout. We could all be in the lounge area comfortably. Very well equipped kitchen. The welcome pack was good. All the family said beds were good too. Location was perfect for dog walking and some lovely views. Would definitely book again. Thanks for a great holiday. Service from dh cottages was good and efficient. Very polite and helpful when I made the booking.
Mrs S Bailey 21/06/2016
Thank you for a lovely stay at Canaan this last weekend. All was good and there were 7 happy guests and a dog! Thanks again
Mrs Threlfall 02/05/2016
We had a lovely 4 days at Canaan. Great location - with an unexpected view of the sea from Lounge / Bedroom. Plenty of space and convivial open plan layout.

Will definitely return.
James Daly 13/02/2016
Great cottage. Large bedrooms and great living area. Could have done with a few more kitchen utensils and more paper and kindling for the fire.

Great weekend though and lovely to have bread etc on arrival.
Mar 2015 02/05/2015
Great house for an extended family of 8 staying over New Year. Easily accommodated 3 generations with lots of living space. Very well kitted out and the welcome pack was a bonus. Christmas Tree etc. was nice touch.

I found all dealing with Dorset Cottage Holidays to be very helpful and efficient. This led to a successful holiday for us all as from start to finish we felt you had our interests at heart.

Thank you for a lovely stay, in your very nice and well equipped house. Very friendly owners, who made sure we had everything we needed.

It was just what we were looking for and we will definitely stay there again.

Great house in a fantastic location. Good walks from house finished off at the pub for a pasty and pint perfect . Visited lots of new places on the Jurassic coast we’ve not been to before . Will probably visit the same house next year .

We had a wonderful week staying in this property. It was warm and cosy and super for our large group and 2 dogs. It was well equipped except for the lack of serving dishes. It was clean and welcoming and felt very homely.

Fab cottage in a fab location. The cottage had everything we needed to make our holiday perfect and was just about the best accommodation we have ever experienced. No doubt we will return, hopefully with better weather !

Everything about this place was wonderful, cannot recommend highly enough !
Mo Jaffer 16/09/2017
The property was ideal for our family group of three generations. Very well equipped to a high standard. The location was great for exploring the area generally and for local walks to the coast in particular.

Canaan was a most impressive house, clean, well equipped and very suitable for our family, including one member with mobility issues. The location is outstanding and it was a delight to have cows pass by the door. The walking is superb and the whole area has lots to offer.
We would have no hesitation in returning.

Could not fault this holiday cottage, great house in a beautiful spot.

The house was beautiful, spacious, and very well equipped, and ideal for our 3 generation of family holiday. The location was perfect for dog walking, and visiting pretty Dorset. A really lovely memorable holiday.

Thank you.

We had a fantastic holiday in this wonderful cottage yet again. It is simply perfect for us and our four children. Thank you for making us feel so welcome. We are looking forward to staying at Canaan again next summer!

We had a lovely 4 days at Canaan. Great location - with an unexpected view of the sea from Lounge / Bedroom. Plenty of space and convivial open plan layout.

Will definitely return.

Great cottage. Large bedrooms and great living area. Could have done with a few more kitchen utensils and more paper and kindling for the fire.

Great weekend though and lovely to have bread etc on arrival.
