Tilshead is a recently built, architecturally designed, family home. This exceptional, bespoke house was created to offer a practical space, yet the owners have spared no expense in creating a luxurious, contemporary residence.
Unusually, this modern dwelling offers exceptionally large bedrooms, marble floors and a stylish open plan lounge and kitchen, which have been thoughtfully designed and tastefully decorated. Bi-folding doors lead to a good sized garden, mostly laid to lawn, overlooked by a large feature patio, ideal for BBQs and al-fresco dining or just gazing across to the sea and Isle of Wight beyond.
Tilshead would suit a large family or group of adults and is ideally positioned in the lovely Purbeck village of Langton Matravers. Within the village (and walking distance) you can enjoy a day out at Putlake Adventure Farm, dine in the local village pub or visit the small local history museum. You can also enjoy a number of fabulous Jurassic Coast country walks including the spectacular Dancing Ledge. Sandy beaches and the town of Swanage are just two miles, and the National Trust owned ruins and village of Corfe Castle is just three miles. An easy drive will take you to a host of attractions, beaches and large towns.

4 Bedrooms: G/F King & twin. F/Floor King (ensuite), Double (ensuite). Main Lounge, TV, DVD, WIFI. Second Reception with TV, DVD and children's games. Large kitchen: range oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, and dishwasher. Dining area for formal dining. Integral Garage with laundry area, w-machine, cross trainer, spinning bike and free weights. Bathrooms: G/Fl family bathroom, F/Fl ensuite bathroom with shower Cubicle, additional F/Fl ensuite bathroom. Secure Garden, good size lawn, large patio with outside furniture and charcoal BBQ. Parking, 3/4 off road spaces. Under floor & Central Heating. Travel cot, high chair and travel stair gate. Linen and towels included in weekly and short break bookings. Two dogs welcome, the first dog is charged at £25 extra, the second is free.
Changes for 2024 - One pet will be welcome, not allowed upstairs or carpeted rooms.

The open plan and ensuite was ideal for a family reunion. Spacious garden, patio and open views superb. Walks from door or places to visit by car numerous.
Excellent. The master bedroom was huge but very comfortable.
Accommodation was lovely.
Absolutely loved this house. It was everything we could have wished for. Large open plan kitchen dining room with lounge area. There was also a separate lounge. 3 large double bedrooms 2 with large ensuite bathrooms (upstairs) also a large twin bedroom and family bathroom on the ground floor. There is also access to the garage. Out of the back you entered onto a large patio area with dining table and chairs with a few steps down to a large lawned area. To the front of the house there was a driveway for 2 vehicles. Overall it was a large house where you didn't feel like you were under each others feet. Already looking at booking for next year.

It’s a really lovely spacious cottage in a great location which was great for a large family Christmas gathering. Only minor points stop this from being excellent.

The Accommodation was Beautiful, as soon as you walk into the House it takes your breath away. The open plan kitchen diner was massive, the bedrooms were set out beautifully. Really lovely house to stay in.
A good experience from the booking throughout from the Dorset cottages team, the cottage we rented Tilshead was very good and we would not hesitate to rent it again.

Very much the feeling of a family home. Lovely large property to suit our needs - excellent opened planned space with fantastic views. It was brilliant to have gym equipment and somewhere to wash muddy boots after dog walking.
Lovely cottage with really good and well looked after facilities, perfect for a long family weekend with children, pet and aged parent. The underfloor heating kept the cottage warm and toasty! Good location for all that Purbeck has to offer.
We enjoyed our holiday in Tilshead. There are excellent views over the local area and easy access to walks. Very close to Swanage and Corfe Castle which resulted in very little driving.
The house is lovely and provided ample accommodation for three generations of our family.

This was a really nice house in a fantastic location. We all loved staying here and were able to go for brilliant walks (with the dog) from the garden gate.
We were a family group ranging in age from toddler, through teenagers, to grownups and Nana. TIlshead was a wonderful base for a lovely week in Dorset and everything we needed was provided, including all the cot, high chair, safety gate etc to make life easier for our little man ( and very pregnant Mummy).
We had a wonderful holiday and would certainly return to TIlshead in the future.

An ideal house for our extended family. everywhere was very clean and in good condition and the welcome pack was much appreciated. A small issue with the fridge on arrival was sorted within the hour.
The living spaces worked very well and we loved the big kitchen/living area and large cooker. A couple of smaller saucepans and a couple of baking trays would have made it perfect for cooking.

What a fantastic house it was the best holiday we have ever had so good that we have booked two weeks already for next year we can't wait to come back the cottage was in a fantastic location so close to everything and the standard of the decor and appliances was top class thank you very much for a fantastic holiday

Tilshead is a beautiful house, we had a lovely four days there, situated in a nice quiet road, very well equipped kitchen with a large entertaining space, nice big bedrooms, and the bathrooms are gorgeous. The views from the back of the house to Swanage are lovely, you can even see the sea on a clear day. Ideally situated for getting around to visit other places.

A group of us had a fantastic New Years stay at Tilshead! The location is fantastic for exploring, the house is very well equipped and designed with a high spec. It’s a super sociable house which made New Years Eve excellent. We would of loved to been able to use the large garden but just gives an excuse to come back in the summer! Thank you for a New Year to remember!
We really enjoyed the whole stay. Wonderful house, plenty of space for us all, lovely welcome pack and everything worked! It was clean and modern and felt like a home from home. The walks nearby were great, the location was terrific. We loved the fact there was a key safe so we could leave the key out if we went for a walk and other members of our party could pick it up.
If some kindling or firestarters to start the log burner could be left that would be awesome and maybe let people know there will only be a few dishwasher tabs. Fab place though, would definitely stay again. Thank you for a lovely stay. xxxx

Everything about Tilshead was great except for the rubbish issue that was sorted out. Also the outside garden table needs to be replaced as it has seen better. Apart from those items it was agreat stay . Thank you very much

What a lovely holiday home. Clean, spacious, equipped with everything you need. Beautiful garden and lovely views. Would recommend this holiday home to anyone. "Fantastic"
We stayed at Tilshead for a long weekend in May to celebrate a special family birthday What a find! The very well equipped house has so much space and was immaculate when we arrived. It was good to find a 'welcome pack' as we had been delayed on our journey, it provided the essentials for a quick breakfast the next morning. The rest of the family arrived and were also very impressed with the accommodation. What a bonus having such a secure garden so we could let our dog out without worrying he would escape. There is even a gate from the garden onto the local footpath network. The only issue we had was with the boiler which was not 100% however after a call to the maintenance man, he appeared within 10/15 minutes and corrected it (an error message did still appear on the screen each morning but my husband was luckily able to reset it so it wasn't an issue). The agent assured us that they were going to get it sorted out immediately after the weekend.
We stayed at Tilshead for a long weekend. The place was perfect for our extended family visit. Large and well equipped kitchen. Lovely bedrooms and comfortable beds.Well located for so many places to visit and some fabulous views.
We were not disappointed with our stay at Tilshead, the property was very clean and had a plentiful supply of crockery, cutlery and every pot & pan you could need, although the salt and pepper pot was missing, so had to beg some salt from the neighbour to go with our fish'n'chip supper. A lovely welcome pack on arrival to set us up as well. The location is excellent with easy access to the SW coastal path if you like walking. We particularly enjoyed walking to Dancing Ledge, Darlston Country Park and Winspit, and took the car to Tynemouth Village and Lulworth/Durdle Dor which are within easy reach. Many of the pubs and restaurants take dogs, would recommend the Halfway Inn at Wareham, and there is a good selection of takeaways in Swanage which is only 5 minutes in the car. The accommodation was spacious and the beds very comfortable. One thing that needs addressing is a blind in the upstairs front bedroom en-suite shower room as they are building opposite and now have direct sight into the bathroom from the scaffolding and what will be an upstairs room in the house being built.
That really was the only criticism and we had a fabulous week and were blessed with gorgeous weather for early April. If we come this way again as a larger party we will certainly re-book Tilshead, it was a shame we could only stay the one week.

What a find.Very high standard house.Everything was just perfect and clean.Very well equipped and comfortable.Beds were superbly comfortable.Dorset holiday cottages were excellent in their communication and professional dealings.Look forward to being able to stay in the future as it was good value for the 5 star quality.
I rented Tilshead for a family group including my two sons and their families. We were not disappointed with the accommodation. The cottage was more than we expected and ideal for our group. Both my sons intend to rebook at some time in the future. I will certainly recommend Dorset Cottages to my friends and in particular Tilshead for a larger group.

Had a walk from the place along the coast path one day straight out the back garden and across the fields.

This was an excellent house probably the best we have encountered. We had concern the day after arrival over the temperatures registered on the fridge freezer for which there was no instruction manual but this was solved after a telephone call by an almost instant visit by a technician. We found the washing facilities (both kitchen and bath/bedrooms) more fashionable than practical but this would probably not be considered a fault by younger people. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks!

Thank you for a wonderful stay at Tilshead. The weather was perfect and the house exceptionally well-equipped, with everything a family could wish for. A good range of glasses, plates and cutlery plus cooking implements. Very comfortable beds and airy bedrooms. The garden was a joy, large lawn and gate onto footpath for walks.
The only issue we had was with the upstairs shower, but DHC sent the maintenance team straight away to fix the issue.
This was our first booking with DHC and we will return! everyone was very helpful.

Holidayed with my family which included my elderly parents. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom were perfect for them, And they loved the beautiful view from the patio and sitting room. It's very well equipped, spacious, very comfortable and in a lovely location. We loved it!

Thank you for a wonderful stay at Tilshead. The weather was perfect and the house exceptionally well-equipped, with everything a family could wish for. A good range of glasses, plates and cutlery plus cooking implements. Very comfortable beds and airy bedrooms. The garden was a joy, large lawn and gate onto footpath for walks.
The only issue we had was with the upstairs shower, but DHC sent the maintenance team straight away to fix the issue.
This was our first booking with DHC and we will return! everyone was very helpful.

Holidayed with my family which included my elderly parents. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom were perfect for them, And they loved the beautiful view from the patio and sitting room. It's very well equipped, spacious, very comfortable and in a lovely location. We loved it!
Spacious, well equipped, very clean house. Great views. Comfortable beds. Enormous bedrooms upstairs! Decorated Christmas tree and lovely welcome hamper were nice touches. Very warm in winter. Thanks very much.
lovely house, as good as the brief, which is unusual! beds wonderfully comfortable, lovely bathrooms, huge bedrooms upstairs and all mod cons. We were extremely happy and the welcome basket was very generous.
The normal changeover for this property is a Saturday, though this is flexible out of season and over Christmas.
