Is Weymouth A Good Place To Visit

Historically its probably famous for being the favourite holiday destination for King George – who is said to be riding the famous Weymouth chalk horse.

But its now one of Dorsets honeypot locations with gold sandy beach, safe bathing, family friendly attractions and quaint harbour.

The main free attractions are the golden sands of the beach and the historic Quay where you can enjoy a lovely meal and watch the boats come and go.

The largest attractions are the volunteer run Nothe Fort, Sandworld and Sealife Centre but there are also lots of smaller attractions to fill any holiday itinerary.

As home to the 2012 Olympics, Weymouth is also famous for its water based activities – from windsurfing, diving to sailing an 18th Century yacht – all this is can be enjoyed.

Yes, Weymouth has a reputation as a family, friendly resort.  Lots of lovely places to stay to enjoy the wide beach and shallow waters.  Excellent facilities for families include plenty of public loos.  Eateries welcome every generation and there is so much to entertain you – from a long list of events to the Weymouth Pavillion where you an enjoy a pantomime.

The summer months (May–September) are ideal for beach activities, water sports, and traditional seaside fun. For quieter stays, late spring and early autumn offer milder weather and fewer crowds. (You could tailor this based on local event calendars.)
