I was the advance guide for our party. Cottage is about along the road 350yds from the right turn into the village. It was lovely and warm throughout our stay and is very well situated for the attractions in the local area. We all met up at the Saxon Arms in nearby Stratton for tea (which we can recommend) before all heading back to the cottage on the first evening. Only minor gripe was that there was very little toilet roll remaining but that apart we enjoyed our stay.
Mike Mayer 22/03/2019
We spent a week here and, despite some very wet weather, the cottage provided a comfortable stay. The bed provided a good night's sleep; the kitchen was well eqipped so that we were able to stay in and cook whenever we wanted to. The provision of dishwasher and washing machine made life easy and finding Sky Sports on the TV was a real bonus. We found that the garden wall had been damaged before we arrived but a phone call to the office resulted in a temporary repair being completed before we returned in the afternoon making the garden once again safe for our dog,
Colin 15/03/2019
We had a very pleasant stay the cottage was warm and cosy. We would certainly be happy to stop there again.
On the negative side it could benefit from some TLC.

We've enjoyed our weekend break at Cheesemans cottage.
It is comfortable and has all you need.
The log burner makes it very cosy for a break away this time of year.
We arrived to find the cottage clean, tidy and very welcoming.
It is situated out of the way but still close enough to ammenities.
We will be back for another visit.

A lovely little cottage nice peaceful holiday lots of place,s to visit not to far away .nice pubs around the area to eat at..the saxon arms is within walking distance
Ray Wright 19/10/2018
It was perfect for our family of 4, great location for the beach and towns. Great garden, beautiful house inside and outside.
If you're tall you will bang your head! getting a big car out of the drive took some practice, we'd happily go back.
Tim 17/08/2018
What a lovely and interesting cottage. Very well equipped and much more like a home than so many holiday cottages often are. We were there in very cold weather and it was easy to keep wonderfully warm there. Wonderful old and interesting fireplace and woodburner. Comfortable beds and 2 really decent size bedrooms. We didn’t use the garden much due to weather but enjoyed seeing the birds there.

Location very handy for visiting Dorchester and Hardy places. Only drawback we felt was that you could see and hear the main quite busy Yeovil road a bit about quarter of a mile away if you had window open upstairs or were in the garden, but then we are fussy like that and like to get right away from all traffic noise on holidays, and it wasn’t a big issue just worth bearing in mind if you want total quiet.

Fabulous having a piano there (needs a tune up though!) and WiFi reception was excellent if you neeed that. DH cottages were brilliant to deal with, helpful friendly and accommodating when we needed to change dates because of snow.
Wendy 23/03/2018
We had a fabulous weeks stay at the lovely Cheesemans cottage. It was welcoming and warm on arrival and very homely and the cava was a great treat with the cookies, we loved the quirkiness of the cottage and it seemed to have no fault for us to see. the beds were very comfy. kitchen was compact but had every thing we needed for home cooking and drinks etc. Thank you for our stay and we hope to return again to this peaceful but very handy for getting out and about spot.
Sophia potts and family 05/02/2018
We had a wonderful time at Cheesemans cottage. Fab log burner and central heating so cosy and warm. Kitchen had everything you could wish for. In beautiful grounds and lots of parking. A surprise bottle of cava left in the fridge for us plus tea, coffee and biscuits and a pint of milk was such a lovely thought from the owners. Our son and his family live near by so we will be staying there several times a year. Can't wait till next time!!
Mrs D. Rayner 19/01/2018
Cheeseman's cottage is cosy and private and perfect for anyone with dogs. The garden is spacious and enclosed and there are walks directly from the house. I have stayed here twice and hope to return as it always proves to be a relaxing and stress free break.Highly recommended.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at cheesemans cottage, amazing large fireplace with wood burner , had everything we needed and the piano was a bonus. Wouldn’t hesitate to return here again in the future
Mrs S Spragg 14/11/2017
We thought the cottage was excellent, well fitted, separate dining table was very welcome. Kitchen compact but everything we needed. Sofa was comfortable. It is also the first cottage that we have rented that came with a piano - my wife practiced her scales on several occasions.
Niggles: we found the shower tray small and great care was needed to avoid soaking the floor; it took us several evenings to find that the light switch for the lamps above the fireplace was in the inglenook; and we found the inner door difficult to unlock - the key needed a lot of 'twiddling'
John Belcher 30/09/2017
The cottage was in a lovely area. The neighbours were friendly and indicated where we could walk the dog. The cottage could really do with a couple of comfy chairs. One had a really strong smell of dog which is not the owners fault, the other was just tatty and uncomfortable, the settee was fine with just three of us.
The garden was very overgrown but was very secure for the dog who loved it. Everything else was very nice.
Mrs Rita Perry 22/06/2017
Fantastic cottage in a fantastic area.We could not fault the cottage in any way and the surrounding area both coast and country is fabulous. We will certainly visit again.

For peace, quiet and comfort this could be the place for you, a stones throw from the river, 10 minutes from Lidle's supermarket that carries nearly everything.
The cottage is 15 minutes from the centre of Dorchester,
5 minutes from the A35 and the A37. On arrival we found the cottage welcoming with huge Ingal nook fireplace with a wood burning stove, two adequate bedrooms, but only one bathroom/toilet, seating for 5/6 adults.
We found the kitchen was very well provided for with oven, hob, microwave oven, fridge freezer, dish washer and washing m/c.
We spent a very pleasant week staying there, going out to see the sights and the coast, Kingston Lacey house is well worth a trip to see the gardens, the house etc.

Nice lounge, 2 very decent bedrooms, good bathroom & bath plus the option of instant shower, and the bonus of a lovely sheltered garden with plenty of space. Very rural feel to this thatched cottage, yet only 5 mins drive from a pub and 15 mins to Dorchester.
