Cheeseman's Cottage embodies all the distinct qualities of a quintessential English country retreat. This 'chocolate box' thatched cottage, located on a quiet country lane is surrounded by a beautiful garden and enjoys rolling country views.
Cheeseman's Cottage has a traditional interior with large inglenook fireplace where you can find a cosy wood burning stove and the remains of the original bread oven. Past the galley kitchen leads you to the formal dining room with antique dining table large enough to seat up to 8. The garden can be accessed from the dining room through the French doors. Most of the rooms enjoy beautiful country views, the best of which can be enjoyed from the two bedrooms on the first floor.
Muckleford is a hamlet at the western edge of the parish of Bradford Peverell just 5 miles from the county town of Dorchester and 7 from the coast at Abbotsbury and Weymouth with its beautiful sandy Blue Flag beach.

Lovely settings , this cottage was perfect for our family of 4 & our bulldog ,, nice walks & dog friendly pubs ,, will definitely be going back there again .
Great service from Dhcottages
Thank you so much
On the negative side it could benefit from some TLC.
It is comfortable and has all you need.
The log burner makes it very cosy for a break away this time of year.
We arrived to find the cottage clean, tidy and very welcoming.
It is situated out of the way but still close enough to ammenities.
We will be back for another visit.
If you're tall you will bang your head! getting a big car out of the drive took some practice, we'd happily go back.
Location very handy for visiting Dorchester and Hardy places. Only drawback we felt was that you could see and hear the main quite busy Yeovil road a bit about quarter of a mile away if you had window open upstairs or were in the garden, but then we are fussy like that and like to get right away from all traffic noise on holidays, and it wasnt a big issue just worth bearing in mind if you want total quiet.
Fabulous having a piano there (needs a tune up though!) and WiFi reception was excellent if you neeed that. DH cottages were brilliant to deal with, helpful friendly and accommodating when we needed to change dates because of snow.
Niggles: we found the shower tray small and great care was needed to avoid soaking the floor; it took us several evenings to find that the light switch for the lamps above the fireplace was in the inglenook; and we found the inner door difficult to unlock - the key needed a lot of 'twiddling'
The garden was very overgrown but was very secure for the dog who loved it. Everything else was very nice.
The staff at Dorset Cottage Holidays cannot be faulted. Every little detail is covered and all the documentation is sent out on time - all clearly written with all you need to know.
Thank You
Cheeseman's cottage was very traditional and spacious and a very good option for a weekend getaway to the English countryside.
The cottage is 15 minutes from the centre of Dorchester,
5 minutes from the A35 and the A37. On arrival we found the cottage welcoming with huge Ingal nook fireplace with a wood burning stove, two adequate bedrooms, but only one bathroom/toilet, seating for 5/6 adults.
We found the kitchen was very well provided for with oven, hob, microwave oven, fridge freezer, dish washer and washing m/c.
We spent a very pleasant week staying there, going out to see the sights and the coast, Kingston Lacey house is well worth a trip to see the gardens, the house etc.
The normal changeover for this property is a Friday, though this is flexible out of season and over Christmas.
