Westport Cottage

Our self-catering cottage was originally two cottages built in 1833 and 1872.

It is a NO SMOKING and NO PETS property; however, this cottage is not allergen free as very occasionally the owner brings a dog.

Our cottage is located on the Saxon Walls adjoining the original Dyke, off the road and is therefore very peaceful whilst still being only a few yards from the centre of Wareham.

Pre-Arrival/On Arrival

The nearest train station is Wareham and is approximately one mile away. There are accessible taxis at the station and buses that will take you to the centre of Wareham. Wareham station is about a 15 minute walk from the cottage (luggage permitting!)

Parking (approx £6 per day in car park yards from your holiday home, plentiful parking).

There are ample shopping facilities in Wareham Town Centre, including a large Sainsbury’s Supermarket and Co-Op.

We have a welcome file in the cottage, which has instructions regarding appliances, heating, hot water etc. It also has doctors, dentist, hospital numbers listed.

We use the back door to enter and exit the cottage as the front door goes straight into the lounge. The back door goes straight into the kitchen.

General Downstairs

We have a kitchen, Dining Room, Lounge and small games/family room on the ground floor. The décor is neutral throughout. We do not have a toilet or bathroom on the ground floor.

Dining Room

We have a large pine table and five chairs, a large cabinet and a corner chair. This room has an open fire. We also have a “high chair” for young children. There is a cupboard in one corner with the boiler. Our heating and hot water is controlled by a Hive which is in the family room. We also have a fire- guard stored in this cupboard. Flooring is Purbeck stone.

Lounge

Flooring carpet and a large mat under the coffee table.

We have two sofas a two seater and a three seater, a solid wood coffee table (this is not easily moveable), a 32 inch Samsung SMART television and DVD player with Hard-drive for recordings. We have a fireplace, which is only for decorative purposes.

Games /Family Room

Flooring is a cream carpet

We have a small table, which can be extended, and four folding chairs. We have books on the table, including maps and leaflets of local interest.
The stairs are located in this room. We have a door at the bottom of the stairs. This can be shut if young children are playing in the Games Room.

Laundry

We have a washing machine in the kitchen and a tumble dryer in a shed at the back of the property. There is a small clothesline in the garden and a small airer under stairs.

Bedrooms

All bedrooms are located on the first floor. 1 king with en suite shower room comprising shower cubicle, WC and wash basin, 1 twin and 1 single. We have a travel cot for infants in the cottage (we do not provide linen for this). We also have a family bathroom on the first floor which has a shower over the bath, WC and wash basin.

Landing

We have a small landing at the top of the stairs. There is a small additional step from the twin and single bedroom to the family bathroom.

General

Non-feather duvets and pillows in each room. We do have small feather cushions in the bedrooms and lounge.
Fully fitted cream carpets in all bedrooms.

Garden

We have a small cottage style garden at the rear of the property with a bench and a table and five chairs. Our neighbour does have access across our garden to get to his garden, which he uses occasionally. The bins are stored to the side of the property
