Our self-catering home is an open, spacious, 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom detached house built in local stone. There is vehicular and pedestrian access to the front and pedestrian access to the rear of the property.

Location
Tilshead is situation on Toms Field Road, approx 50m on the left-hand side as you turn into the road. Toms Field Road is located at the top of Langton Matravers Village, and is close to the village green (complete with children’s play area with swings and slides), St George’s Church, Langton Museum, Local Village Store/Trevor’s Deli, The Kings Arms Pub, Putlake Adventure Farm and Tea Room as well as Burngate Stone and Crafts Centre.
Tilshead backs on to lanes and fields from where you can take a number of scenic walks.
Public Transport links include a regular bus that goes in one direction to Swanage (approximately 2 miles away) and in the opposite direction to Corfe, Wareham, Poole and Bournemouth. The nearest bus stop is on the high street a few minutes walk away. The nearest main line train station is Wareham which is approximately 8 miles away. A bus service goes from Wareham Station to the top of Toms Field Road. Taxis can also be found at Wareham Station and at Swanage Station or booked via phone. A coach service also operates from Swanage to London.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
There is a wide driveway at the front of the property so unloading luggage is easy. The driveway provides off street parking for 3/4 cars. Adjacent to the driveway is a pedestrian pathway leading straight to the front door. There is a step down from the pavement to the pathway of approx 12cm by 120cm (Please note that – depending on how the cars are parked – access to the pathway and front door can also be gained via the slope of the driveway). The front pathway also goes around the circumference of the house thus providing an alternative way to access the rear lawn. The pathway slopes gently down around the house with only 2 steps approx 13cm down by 34cm deep. The narrowest part of the pathway is 92cm.
There is an open covered porch areas at the front door with a seat. The front door has a standard threshold of approx 6cm up, 14cm across and 4cm down into the hallway. The front door opens inwards and is approx 91cm wide.
Internal
The hallway is approx 140cm wide.
The downstairs hallway leads into an open plan kitchen, with an island unit (approx 91cm high) which houses the sink. There is also an open plan dining and living area which leads onto a separate lounge, small open lobby area with doors to a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a family bathroom with w.c., hand basin, bath and fitted shower over.
Access to the rear of the property is gained via bi-folding doors opening onto a large patio with balustrade surround. Please note there are 8 wide stone (each step is approx 16cm drop and 31cm depth). The steps lead down on to the rest of the garden and lawn. As noted previously access to this part of the garden can also be gained via the front pathway which leads around the side of the house.
All internal doors are standard.
Flooring comprises of travertine stone to hallway, kitchen, dining and living area. Bathroom floors are all tiled and there is carpet (short pile) in lounge and all bedrooms. Stairs and upper landing is wood floor.
There are two further large bedrooms upstairs both offering dual aspect and ensuite bathrooms, one with free standing shower cubicle.
There is a fire door (to remain closed) into the integral garage which houses a washing machine. The threshold through this fire door is approx 3cm drop to garage floor level.
Ample seating is provided throughout including 2 sofas in the living area, a cushioned window seat in the open plan kitchen, 8 dining room chairs, easy chairs (both armed and not armed alternatives), 2 large sofas in lounge and a chair in each of the bedrooms.
TV provided in living area and lounge both with remote control (please note the DVD is in the lounge room)
Rear Garden
As described previously there is a wide stone patio area with outside dining table and chairs which seats 8. Chairs are stored in the garage on the ground floor. To the left of the patio area is a lower patio area beneath the kitchen window which is accessed via 2 steps of approx 16cm drop and 31cm depth.
Steps (described previously) lead down from the main patio onto the rest of the garden.
There is a side pathway on one side leading to a gate through to the front garden. On the other side of the house is a very narrow passageway which is open to the front. To deter dogs from escaping some large logs and pots have been stacked adjacent to the garage wall but please supervise your dog accordingly.
Laundry
There is a washing machine with front loading washer and sink for hand washing in the integral garage.
Shop
Trevor’s Deli/Langton Matravers Local Village Store is located inside The Kings Arms which is approx 400m walk down the high street past the playing field and church. Provisions can also be purchased during the summer months from the camp site shop at the bottom of Toms Field Road. The local Swanage supermarkets offer delivery service and the main national supermarkets all deliver to the area.
Leisure Facilities
Langton village green with children’s play area is a few hundred metres away. Further amenities can be found in Swanage and Wareham including public swimming pool.
Within the village (and walking distance) you can enjoy a day out at Putlake Adventure Farm, visit the Langton Matravers Museum or attend a class at the Burngate Stone and Crafts Centre. Dine in the village pub or café.
Sandy beaches and the town of Swanage are just two miles, along with the historic steam railway and a wealth of galleries and speciality shops. You can enjoy a beautiful 2-3 mile walk through stunning countryside to the National Trust owned ruins and village of Corfe Castle or down to the spectacular Jurassic coast at Dancing Ledge. An easy drive will take you to a host of attractions, beaches and larger towns.
