Pembroke Cottage

Pembroke Cottage is a rendered Purbeck stone cottage, one of five cottages on an elevated terrace enjoying views across the village of Langton Matravers to Swanage Bay and the Isle of Wight. The cottage is a typical quarryman’s cottage and boasts many original features.

The front door of this 19th century cottage opens directly into the cosy lounge complete with wood burner, comfortable leather sofas and solid oak flooring retaining its olde charm. Living room leads to a compact yet bright and fully equipped kitchen to allow guests to make all their favourite meals. The staircase by the kitchen will take you directly to the first floor, where you find a cosy single bedroom, equipped with a large shelving for your favourite books. Family bathroom showcasing coloured glass block window is on the same floor along with light double bedroom. Beyond that a second set of stairs leads up to a delightful double bedroom which used to be an attic, and therefore has some reduced head-height. Guests should be aware that head height of the stairs is very restricted.

Make the most of the enclosed garden, over the walkway, in front of the main door, fully equipped with garden furniture and BBQ. Why not take a well-deserved family break in this quaint Purbeck cottage? Heavenly evenings can be spent in front of the log burner or relax on a warm summer’s evening in the delightful garden.

Located at the centre of a network of coastal footpaths, you can walk to nearby Corfe Castle or into the larger seaside town of Swanage. Dancing Ledge and Chapman’s Pool are not to be missed with a memorable stop off at world renowned pub The Square & Compass, serving the best pasty and pint for miles.

This cottage has some low ceilings and doorways, and narrow stairs, typical of a 19th century cottage. The double bedroom in the attic room has particularly low ceilings. The cottage comfortably accommodates 4 guests plus baby/child. Head room over the bed is limited in the third bedroom and this is be more suitable as a child's bedroom.

Please note, the property seats 4 adults max comfortably.

Local Area

The Isle of Purbeck, whilst not a true Island but a peninsula, has been safely protected from the vagaries of the modern world by the River Frome and still feels a world apart. Purbeck is famous for its diverse landscape, coast and geology, making it a perfect location for a self- catering holiday. Its exceptional geology has led to a rich landscape and has therefore been inhabited for thousands of years.
