Set on a quiet, private road in a peaceful part of Swanage, Billet Doux is a beautifully presented ground-floor retreat. It is ideal for couples or solo travellers looking to slow down and enjoy a more relaxed pace of life. Just outside the town centre, this semi-detached one-bedroom property offers the perfect balance of seclusion and convenience - close enough to explore Swanage with ease, yet tucked away from the crowds and completely free of through traffic.
Inside, the cottage is warm, comfortable, and well-equipped for a self-catering stay. The main lounge is a calm and inviting space with a TV, WiFi, books and board games for quiet evenings in. A hearing loop is also available for the TV. The generously sized kitchen-diner features a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine. A Breville coffee machine is on hand for your morning brew, and the traditional dresser adds a homely touch to the light-filled dining area, perfect for leisurely meals.
The king-size bedroom offers a peaceful place to rest, and the bright family bathroom includes a shower cubicle, WC, washbasin, and a heated towel rail. All accommodation is on one level, making it easy to settle in and feel at home.
The cottage benefits from two private patio areas: a spacious, enclosed side garden with outdoor furniture and a charcoal BBQ for sunny lunches and evening meals, and a small front patio with a bench, ideal for enjoying a quiet coffee in the morning. The garden is secure and suitable for guests bringing one well-behaved dog (welcome for a small charge). The property also includes off-road parking for one vehicle.

Local Area
Billet Doux is just a minute stroll from the South West Coast Path and Swanage sits at the eastern edge of Dorset’s Jurassic Coast and offers a classic seaside experience alongside access to some of the county’s most remarkable natural landscapes. From Billet Doux, you’re just a short stroll or drive from the heart of town, where you’ll find a mix of independent shops, seafront cafés, traditional pubs, and local markets. The town’s gently curving sandy beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, or simply watching the boats drift past from the comfort of a deckchair.
Nature lovers and walkers will find endless opportunities to explore the surrounding countryside. Just to the south lies Durlston Country Park, a coastal nature reserve filled with wildflowers, sea birds, and dramatic views from the clifftops. The South West Coast Path runs through the park and continues along the Jurassic Coast, offering scenic routes to places like Dancing Ledge and the iconic chalk formations of Old Harry Rocks.
For a slower pace, enjoy a ride on the Swanage Railway—a restored heritage line that runs through the Isle of Purbeck’s patchwork of fields and heathland to the historic village of Corfe Castle. The castle’s ruins are one of Dorset’s most iconic sights, and the surrounding village is perfect for a pub lunch or a visit to one of the small galleries and craft shops. Further afield, but still within easy reach by car, are the quiet beaches of Studland Bay, the dramatic arch of Durdle Door, and the bustling harbour town of Wareham. Whether you're looking for coastal walks, local food, history, or simply space to unwind, Swanage and the wider Purbeck area provide a rich and varied backdrop for a memorable stay.
