Fresh milk and local produce can be purchased from Craig's Dairy, which is only a stone's throw from the cottage. A family friendly pub with restaurant and an outdoor play area is within 5 minutes' walk.
Dorset's famous Jurassic Coast is a short country walk from the cottage (just over a mile), across fields if you are feeling energetic, or down the country lane if you prefer. The south west coastal path at Osmington Mills, home to the famous Smugglers Inn, is a haven for wildlife and offers spectacular views over to Weymouth and Portland.
Lavender Cottage is also well positioned to explore the many other attractions that Dorset has to offer, including the Isle of Purbeck in the east, Dorchester and a patchwork of villages, heathland and prehistoric earthworks.

Thank you for a delightful cottage- we had a most enjoyable time
and appreciated all the goodies you left for us. It was a most
enjoyable week- above our expectations. p.s Our favorite visits
were to Portland Bill, Abbotsbury, Athelhampton house and Hardy
Monument. The fox inn was closed but we liked The Spinghead inn at
sutton poyntz.
March 18th - 21st 2019 We had such a lovely time here with our
baby daughter - very relaxing! The weather was wonderful on one day
so we all trecked to the top of the cliffs to see Durdle Door. Even
got sunburnt - a truly lovely memory to take home. Thank you so
much.
12/04/19 to 19/04/19 Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lavender
Cottage. So much to do and so near at hand. Portland - found the
pirates graves, D-D Centre, Castle Tank Museum. fun on the
beach/rock pools at Bowlease Cove. Enjoyed supper at the Shy Fox.
Thank you for the bottle of wine. Richard & Thelma Saunders
Friday 15th March to Monday 18th March A good weekend spent here
in Weymouth from the Garden of England - Kent. Made even more
enjoyable in your comfortable Cottage. Thank you.
Fantastic value and thanks so much for the new year champagne welcome!
Highly recommend
Lovely stay at Lavender Cottage. Very comfortable, lovely xmas
dinner at The Bridge Inn. The welcome pack was much appreciated. No
doubt we will be back!
Had a wonderful time in the cottage, it was ideal for a short
winter break. We visited Osmington Horse, West Bay, Bridport, Fleet
Air Museum and also raced the Dorset Coastal event. Stunning
coastline and a great place to visit. The cottage was great!
Booked last minute, cottage had everything we needed for short
stay. Cottage was clean and tidy. Easy access to the area of
Weymouth and dorset. Farm shop did a lovely breakfast and selection
of produce. Our only negative comment was uht milk in fridge when
next to a dairy farm and the washing machine needs to be cleaned
out. We would stay her again for a short break as excellent value
for money.
Response: Thank you for your review, I am pleased you had a
lovely stay. I am sorry the milk was unable to be exchanged for
fresh as you booked on a last minute basis. We have also requested
the washing machine to be checked throughly. We hope to welcome you
again soon.
A lovely cottage with every thing you needed, The only problem
was the amount of flies, the weather was hot which suited us but we
were not able to open the windows or doors to cool us down because
of the flies. Had it not been for the flies we would have given
Lavender Cottage 5 Stars. Tony Matthews & family from
Tadcaster.
Holiday was 25/8/17 for one week
Thank you.
If you are looking for provisions, head towards Weymouth and you'll find a Spar on right, Co-Op on left!
Gorgeous cottage, perfect home from home. We hope to return again soon..
A great location for all walks, pubs, restaurants, beach etc.
A beautiful, comfortable cottage with everything you need. Thank you- we will be back.
We had a really enjoyable week's holiday
Very comfortable, well equipped, warm and clean - everything you need for a good break - a lucky find.
Lucky with wonderful weather. Fed the horse everyday opposite the dairy. So greedy!
Saw lots of the attractions including Monkey World and The Swannery.
As an elderly couple we thank you very much for our weeks break.
We had lots of days out- Sandbanks, Lulworth Cove, Weymouth, Swanage and we recommend them all. The nearby Bowleaze Cove was also very good with a decent café.
The nearby pubs we recommend are The Springhead which has a lovely garden and beautiful backdrop of rolling hills and The White Horse. Good food too. The Smugglers Inn is also very good for drinks/food despite work being done. The Sunray was closed for much of our stay so we only went there once or twice- a good play area for children.
While we were here we visited the 5 in 2 Museums in Dorchester, The Sealife Centre in Weymouth, which we got free Tower Tickets but were unable to use due to maintenance so we have left them for the next guests to enjoy.
The Sunray Pub down the road do a lovely choice of food and the play area is a great asset when you have children.
All in all a great holiday home and a fantastic area with lots to do ie, The Tank Museum, Monkey World. All dun days.
Thanks again.
We look forward to visiting again in the future.
Recommend Craig's Dairy Farm - great sausages bread. Not to mention the ice creams coffee! Very happy to let children watch the milking (3-4pm)
