How do we define luxury? Sumptuous surroundings, fine dining, world class activities or perhaps a bar of chocolate snuggled up on the couch watching your favourite film. I’m here to tell you that you can find all of those and more if you visit Weymouth and the surrounding areas.

There’s no getting away from it, Weymouth has long been known as Bournemouth’s poorer sister but having explored this beautiful old Victorian and Georgian seaside town I would beg to differ.

I know that it has all the trappings of a traditional family seaside town and that is not necessarily synonymous with luxury but believe me for those with an appetite for the finer things of life there is plenty on offer for the discerning amongst you.

Natures Best Offers

The Beach – Glorious golden sands stretching down to the azure blue waters of Weymouth Bay. Accredited with one of the best weather records in the UK with over 1800 hours of annual sunshine and low rainfall. The perfect destination for topping up your tan.

Of course Weymouth Bay is not the only coastal destination on this part of the world famous heritage site. Dorset’s Jurassic Coast.

The Finer Things in Life

The Food – With a strong fishing tradition, where the fleet still lands its catch today it is not surprising that the harbour and bay restaurants offer the most delicious of this fresh bounty. It’s not all ‘Fish n Chips’ in newspaper. Below is an offering from Crustacean a cosy bistro specialising in seafood dishes with a French influence. There are so many fine dining examples to choose from in Weymouth that to compile a list would be exhausting. I’ll leave that to the travel review sites, of which there are many.

Weymouth Attractions

The Activities – You can’t mention Weymouth and Portland without thinking of our glorious 2012 Olympic Sailing Events and carrying on that proud tradition is the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy who driving force is its annual events calendar. Two of my favourite places are Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens and of course Abbotsbury Swannery. Both offering a tranquil and spectacular setting for you to enjoy one of Weymouth’s warm sunny days      Abbotsbury Swannery Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens
