Weymouth’s only Michelin Guide restaurant, Catch is genuine sea-to-plate dining housed in the town’s historic Grade II-listed fish market. Menus change with the season and the daily catch, working closely with Weyfish fishmongers who still operate from the ground floor of the same building. Booking ahead is essential for this one.

Set right on Chesil Beach with its own oyster beds out front, Crab House Café is one of the county’s best-loved seafood restaurants. 9. Oliveto
Housed on the top floor of the old Pier Bandstand, Oliveto is an Italian restaurant with arguably the best view of any restaurant in Weymouth — huge windows and a small balcony almost hanging over the sea. 10. Bonita Pasta Club
One of Weymouth’s newest openings, this family-run Italian spot on Custom House Quay has quickly become known for its pasta-focused menu and cheerful, unpretentious atmosphere — helped along by the decorative Vespa parked outside the front door. Eating out in weymouth
- Book ahead for the harbourside favourites. Catch, Sea Beats and Les Enfants Terribles in particular are small, popular spaces that fill up quickly, especially at weekends and through the summer season.
- Some seafood spots are seasonal. A handful of the more casual harbourside seafood stalls and cafés only open between spring and autumn, so it’s worth checking ahead if you’re visiting in winter.
- Weymouth does a proper fish and chip rivalry. Locals have genuinely strong opinions on Marlboro versus Bennett’s versus King Edwards — it’s worth trying more than one during your stay and deciding for yourself.
- The harbour is the heart of it all. Most of the best restaurants and pubs cluster around Custom House Quay and the Esplanade, making it easy to wander between a few options before deciding where to eat.
